Advise needed / X5 Brake Pads, etc

Hi,

I am quite new and do not have any experience yet.
I am looking for some advise with regards to the Brake pads and other parts for Brakes.

What do I really need? What brand should I use for what?

Can you provide me with a good source for getting the parts, please?

My bmw dealership told me that I would need "outer ??" brake pads soon and "inner ?" in the near future.

I would like to get the parts on my own and ask a friend who loves older cars to help me to replace the parts.

Thanks for your advise.
Kai

Ceramic Brake Pads for less dust. Akebono is a good one. Or you can stay with OEM pads from the dealer.

Are they gonna change the outer and later change the inner and charge you twice the labor? Normally, they are changed at the same time.

You might need the brake wear sensors too if they are stripped already ("Check Brake Lining" message on dash) Measure the rotors thickness and make sure they are still within spec.

Thanks, untl now I do not have a message on the dash board.
Are they easy to install? Are they normally reusable?

You can not reuse sensor once it stripped, otherwise you will have the message. Check out forum sponsors and don't go to the dealer for parts, unless you have deep pocket of course.
Here is a DIY for brake http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...e-job-diy.html
