Jump Start

Can you safely jump a 05 645 with a dead battery? I left my lights on for a week. Came back to the airport and battery was dead. Fairly new battery. Help please.

Yes, the manual calls out the process on Page 203 (if you have the PDF version). Here is the process at outlined in the manual:

Turn both cars off.
Open your hood, there is a red plastic terminal cover on the right side, flip it open.
Connect the + jumper cable to the car providing power
Connect the + jumper cable to this terminal in the 6
attach the negative to the assistance car battery or engine ground
attach the negative to your special nut, it is a large metal round deal on the right side, it is to the right of the strut top. Really you can connect to any bare metal, it is the same.

Start the assistance car, let it run for a bit, it is best to rev the engine up and keep it revved, no need to go crazy just more than idle so it is giving extra juice output

I find it works better if when you start your car the assistance car revs even higher. If it is still not enough chill and let the other engine charge it for a bit, try again.

Started right up! Thanks Tampa for the words of wisdom! I was freaking out for a little bit....partly angry with myself for leaving the damn lights on in the first place!

Glad it worked out!

Since your battery was run down either give it a nice charge via a battery tender overnight or go for a long drive, put sport mode on so it holds the RPM's a bit higher.
