same wheels/tires?

Lose a wheel weight?
excessive play in tie rods?

I just re-read your post..

The only things that keep coming to mind:

Wheel weight..
Driveline balance..
The wheels you're riding on..

Seems like you have the front end rather well sorted.

I have swapped the summer tires for the winter ones and nothing changed. I've got new rubber coming in later this week, because my summers are down to the wear indicators. I'll get those new tires mounted and balanced to see if that fixes the problem, though I doubt it will.

Here is what I have had done since this problem started:
- FCABs
- Sway bar bushings
- Rotors & pads
- calipers
- drivers side wheel bearing (slightly out of spec according to my deflector gauge)
- passenger side tie rod (the garage said it was loose, I think it was a cash grab)
- Driver's side LCA
- Front end inspection (by me)
- Front end inspection and alignment (by a garage - twice)

Also, the passenger side outer balljoint was replaced less than 20,000km ago with a lemforder so I doubt its that.

Thing's left on the list, in no order, are:
- Tires (Well I swapped with my winters, so I doubt this will fix it... but its happening early next week anyway)
- Passenger side inner balljoint (complete LCA)
- passenger side wheel bearing
- guibo
- driver's side tie rod
- FCABs (When I installed the new ones, I used a ghetto press and they didn't go in perfectly straight)
- another alignment (maybe the garage which aligned it, did it wrong?)
- steering rack
- rear wheel bearings (they're due up to fail, though they sound fine.... who knows if this could be causing the issue?)

BUT... I don't want to just throw parts at this problem. I think my next step will be to drop the passenger LCA and inspect the inner BJ. Then remeasure the wheel bearing with my deflection gauge. Lastly I think i'll drop the driveshaft to fully inspect the guibo.

Rear wheel bearings? I know its a long shot but indirectly the rear can cause feed back to the wheel.

The guibo is so easy to take off and put on.

Also get them to print you off the details off the alignment before and after stats. my rears were 13.8 mm out ( about half and inch ) toe in from one shop.

I think I detected some play in my passenger side rear wheel bearing when I was looking at it last night. Also that tire is wearing faster. No noise from the bearing, though. I'm not completely sure how to proceed.

You either have play or you don't. I found play in one of my wheels when I was doing a chek of the car I purchased. Not saying you have this but this is what I found.
The tire wear is a good indicator also. That is what I had. The biggest issue with doing this job is, can you get the axles to move from the hub. Check out the videos on youtube from Ed's Garage. I also have a thread here somewhere on this. If you are going to do this I have all the stuff you need. If cash is not an issue you could get quotes to do this. Let us know.

I read your thread today, actually. The thing that is throwing me off is that the rear wheel bearing sounds fine. There was some play left to right (as opposed to up and down), but I was only able to detect it on the hub when I pulled off the caliper. It could have been movement allowed by the rear control arm bushing, but I don't think so. There is no discernible movement with the wheel on. Could you feel the play right in the wheel?

I found play when i removed the wheel as part of installing new shocks. I found play when I grabbed the rotor. I did not have any noise but I did have funky wear. Since I had just purchased the car I was planning on doing most of the bushings and shocks> I did not expect the bearings but is was no big deal once I got going. The other bearing looked fine but i suspect it had been replaced at some point. The actual bearings were not expensive I ordered both and replaced both. Bottom line is you are getting a shake from somewhere and you do not have too many choices left since you have done quite a bit of work.

check your rear wheels and make sure they are not rubbing the frame. look at the inside of the rear tires for wear. mine were to wide, and because my struts were beat, they ended up being just close enogh to rub the frame.
also, wheel bearing could be a possibility...

I'll check for rubbing, but I don't think that is the cause. The tire sizes are stock and the shock mounts are still OK.

JayMac-Are the RWBs part of an integrated hub like the front bearings? Or are just they separate?
