Arrow Installed new A/C compressor, now the cruise control doesn't work?

I took my 323iC back to the dealership to have them replace the A/C compressor as promised (for free). On my way back home I noticed that the cruise control no longer worked anymore (it had always worked fine, including during my drive to the dealership). I called and asked the mechanic who worked on it if maybe he forgot to plug a harness back in or something, and he said definitely not. What could the problem be?

not sure how an ac compressor would affect cruise...

things that affect the cruise would be brake/clutch switches, or a faulty servo motor or column switch.

are you drive by wire, or do you have a throttle cable??

The mechanic may not have forgotten to plug something in, but there's a good chance he inadvertently knocked some electrical connection loose.

I have a 1998 323iC, which I believe has a throttle cable. When I left the dealership, I noticed that for about the first five minutes of driving the clutch made a slight clicking sound that I had never heard before. I'm not sure why it was doing that, but the sound went away quickly. When I got on the highway and tried to use cruise control, it didn't work and hasn't worked since.

Sounds like maybe I should take my panel off and check out the clutch switch, but I can't imagine why he would have messed around with my clutch or clutch switch for a compressor replacement.

well, it *is* an 98, and now, what, 3 chassis series old?? parts do happen to break.

again, i cannot see how replacing an ac compressor would affect cruise, so i would check the simple stuff first.
