where to get used CCC?

Hello I am new here. My 2008 528i's navigation screen going blank from time to time and I learned from this great site that it is caused by a bad CCC(car communication computer). I tried the 3-button reset and it worked sometimes. I wonder where can I get a used CCC and how much it costs. Also is CCC easy to install by oneself? Thanks.

Have you given the Micro Power Module (MPM) a thought?

I have a 2006 530 and about 130' mls on it. If I would keep then longer I would definitely sell my CCC and retrofit with the CIC and for sure not the restricted US Version. I would get me the much better "rest of the World" Version instead the NAM (northamerican) modell. All you have to check upfront a free Tech who can get into the system for programming.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...1&d=1336327523

I found such an amazing new CIC for about 1900.- Euro in Ebay Germany . Brandnew with everything you need .

Just an idea

Where can I find this Micro Power Module, it appears that on the forums I am directed to the RDC module, under the tire it is clearly an RDC because in big black letters it says so.

Any guidance in finding the MPM would be appreciated.

Good luck!

You do not have to program the MPM and it cost about 175 New so the dealer will not be going near my car.

Only 760 bucks to replace and install a CCC unit! That is what they cost on ebay used. I want to know your dealer. I would think the price tag for that would be pass 1200 or so.

mfrasca, Thank You for your post, why even consider the ebay items when the cost is not nearly as bad as I thought. This is great news. One more question, as it turns out the item number is the exact one I need, my current ccc does not have ipod interface, is this an additional option I can consider since I need to replace my CCC?

The ipod interfaces are on back order right now but I would add it if you want it because when they code the new CCC, it will be all done at once. They can get get $200 just for ipod program.

My 2 local dealers quoted me $856.94. How did you get the lower price?
Also how did the coding go? I asked one dealer and he said that they wouldn't recode it unless they installed it. $434 labor quote plus $145 if I want them to diagnose that my CCC is dead.

Well, I Posted elsewhere on this board my experience, my CCC was diagnozed as dead as well, the only sign of life was the BMW spash screen stayed on all the time. So I purchased the cable and downloaded INPA software and played with the computer and the dead CCC came back to life. It was dead for almost two months when I decided to have a hand at this myself.

$658 including shipping. If the dealer doesn't want to code it only, find an indy to do it.

I don't get the item on that website that says Core Price $500. Do you have to add that to the bill. I mean you trade them in the old unit and they give you back the $500??? Bostoned got charged the core charge and total bill was $1200+. What's up with that?

Core Charge

I looked at that website but didn't see any instructions on the core exchange. Everyone including the dealer charges a $500 core fee. They should refund it after you send them your old ccc unit.

You have me confused wtih someone else, the core charge is to ensure they get the old unit (the one you are replacing) back so they can refit and sell. When you send them your old unit they refund your 500 bucks.

CCC Part Number

According to RealOEM, the part number for my car is:
65839123092 - NAV=YES, SUN-BLIND=NO, SEAT-HEAT=YES,PARK-ASSIST=NO
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...57&hg=65&fg=45

I just pulled my old part and see the following:
6583 6987693 - 03
108788 10

I'm curious why I can't find my old part number anywhere. Is there a website that converts old part numbers to new part numbers?
