Sorry about the pooin'
Not trying to make you pull your hair out. lol It can.. depends on what kind of fuel cleanup used.. the brand.. etc.. the tolulene, xylene based ones.. seem not to.. The ones that have more volatile, or HD cleaning agents can screw things up. Your burning the sludge, and a chemical that can mess with readings. Denatured Alcohol, xylene, toluene, and the other one escapes me.. are "cleaner" You can double check your MAF again.. If you did a good job cleaning it the first time, or second, or third.. ![]() Give it a once over one more time.. make sure its clean. Burn that tank of gas outta there.. you can add .75 GAL of E85(flexfuel) to a half tank (or better) of the highest octane top tier gas you can find.. (Shell, or better) this is for laughs..

Sounds like your DME is trying to re-learn*
Go on a drive.. run that tank of gas with the fuel cleaner out.. check the O2 sensor.. and MAF for the umpteenth time.. (HOPEFULLY the LAST TIME) fill with half tank of top tier HIGH octane. The highest you can find Disconnect battery.. like your "resetting" codes.. wait.. Reconnect. Fire up the car and take it for a drive right out the gate.. Note what it is doing.. After a couple drives.. it'll start changing.. You should notice. |

if, however, the dme was swapped out from an obd2 vehicle and placed in the obd1 vehicle, *then* you may have issues with stomp test/no stomp test. i would imagine that there would also be all sorts of check engine light issues as well, due to the dme not being able to communicate with other synched modules. (obd2 is flashed, not chipped) i'd check to see what would cause you to not be able to run a stomp test and see what shows up. this sounds like a maf default to me. cleaning a bad maf will not do anything, and would screw up the readings as well. df

Built the new peddle because the old one was broken.
I understand that the engine and car are not obd1/obd2... what im saying it the car was originally obd1 and the wiring is obd1 so it does not have a port for the code reader that and post 95 would have. The engine is run off and Obd2 dme making the stomp test not work.

i am not saying that this feat could not be worked around, but it would either be something that looks like a hack job, or there would be all sorts of evidence of wiring being spliced for this setup to work. this amount of work would be something that most professional techs would not consider, since it would be way easier to just get the correct dme for the chassis. so no, an obd2 reader wouldn't work. an oe scan tool, or similar should work if you are still unable to perform the stomp test. however, if you are unable to perform the stomp test, i would search for possible reasons that would cause this. one last thing that i would make sure about is that you are in the proper ignition position, and start the stomp test after the lights turn off. it seems that many guys have trouble the first few times trying to perform the stomp test, so please don't stop trying. df

ok so ive concluded that i am way over my head with everything you are saying.. i was once told that if i had the m44 i HAD to have the 0bd2 dme. if that is not the case then im sure the previose owner did the bare minimum like evey other thing he has done.
![]() i did the stopm test again... it worked and i got 1121 and 1214 any idea what these are?

not familiar with these codes, and no search i have done reflects any actual definition. i would double check the flashes just to be sure.
here's a list of codes, per the pelican website. http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/tech...nostics%20.htm df

I'd buy a tested, confirmed working MAF from one of our parts car guys (provided they have one) before buying one elsewhere.
