3 nagging questions: TPMS, Wheels and Mirror Noises

Howdy...

I have 3 quick questions for you current ZSL owners that I haven't seen answered yet:

1 - Has anyone tried fitting the standard 17" Rial Salerno wheels? Like many others, I have a set of 17"s for my winter setup on the E90 and would rather not have to replace them if I don't have to.

2 - As a followup to #1: if you've test fitted your winter wheels, did the post-Sept-2009 TPMS sensors work with your F30? I bought my Rial winter wheels from someone with an '08 335, and the TPMS sensors don't work with my 2010 328... it appears that BMW changed them sometime post-Sept-2009. Anyone try this yet? I have to replace my sensors regardless, but was wondering.

3 - Lastly, my E90 makes a very annoying whistle that comes from the driver's side mirror above 35mph. Do the F30 ZSL mirrors make this same noise? I'm hoping not!

Thanks!

-Tom

I cant answer your first two questions, as I don't have to worry about winter tires. However, on your third question, there is no whistling sound in my sport line at all.

Thanks! It's apparently a somewhat common issue on the E90 and drives me nuts.

I know it's a bit early for anyone to be playing with winter setups yet. I'll create a reminder for myself to bump this in November.

Unfortunately you are probably going to have to be the tester for that setup. We are just approaching the first winter cycle with the F30 so not many folks have fitted winter setups yet.

Sensor look like they are different as was posted.

No whistle here, and from what I understand the whistle started with the 2010 model year as BMW changed the mirror design to conform with some new safety standard. Interestingly the whistle could actually be fixed. I am sure you can find a thread in the E90 section on it if you are interested.

Yes, I saw the threads about how to stick some clear-bra material or a piece of clear tape over the small gap on the mirror housing to remedy it... but honestly I wasn't ever interested in sticking crap all over the mirror to sort it out.

Tirerack has confirmed that my winter wheels should fit. I'll hopefully be taking delivery before Thanksgiving and will test fit the wheels as soon as my 335 is in the driveway.

A bump here as I wanted to update on the winter wheel status... I've come across several people with the 17" Rial wheels for winter use who were still confused:

1 - 17"x8" Rial Salerno wheels (ET29, Backspacing 5.59") will, 100% according to TireRack, in fact fit on an F30 335xi.
2 - The TPMS sensors for the 2013 335 are $45 each. Total bill with valve stems and shipping for replacement sensors will be $218.93 (and will obviously need to be installed on my existing winter wheels).

Happy tobogganing!
