So, Ill say it..
You've done a helluva job! Give yourself credit and big pat on the back. Now go destroy some oregonian chive with that E36. Double check the torque on your exhaust nuts.. Sometimes they back off a bit with time and vibration. Get m3 headers.. or Euro headers.. since you gotta pull your exhaust manifolds to replace the gasket.. you can swap for more "Uuuuuuunnngh" I have a black m3 trunk lid.. (?) if you need it. And, I swear to god I have a pass handle up at the Dojo. Door panels are relatively simple.. Its just overwhelming when you look at em.. ![]() You could get your panels done for cheap.. Go cruise by upholstery shops.. dont stop until you make a friend.

Tell them NO HOT GLUE GUNS! Secret adhesive.. Black RTV. Ok.. I've got a trunk lid with your name on it then. ![]() Whats wrong with yours?

I can confirm that hot glue guns do NOT work for door panels. The glue only lasts for a little while before separating again, which is why I've done mine twice. 2nd time around I used a 2-part epoxy.

Some sick, twisted, closet-case, MF'r used about 2 POUNDS of hot glue ![]() in a futile attempt to "glue" these door, and rear panels back together. (Have pics somewhere.. going to make a panel rehab thread.) I would hate to think a upholstery shop would do this. I tried the A/B epoxy.. Gets too stiff, brittle with age. I found Black RTV works magic. Mine is a little different.. But, it looks like this.

yeah i tried to do one insert on my own.. didnt go well.
Well ya see. my turnk lid had been smashed a bit when i bought it, so i bought a replacement one that i did not notice was from a 4 door because the badges were removed and i didnt give it any thought. i then decided to cut the two apart making one good trunk lid, if any of you are fimilier with how different the two actually are you will know it did not go to well at all and now a chunk of it is being held on with duck tape...

(not laughing at you. laughing WITH you)
Hybrid trunk lid pic request! Ok, you win. I'm putting your name on my black M3 trunk lid. I cant let you roll like that after all this work. Ugh.. I hate name dropping.. i feel like Im just furthering SEO for these companies.. But, Automotive touchup.com has rattle cans of color matched paint. You can pick em up cheap.. match your color, sand, prep, paint and seal. Voilà! A M3 trunk lid that matches your car. Give it about a month to cure, then color sand your whole car.. It will look NEW.

I've heard good things about Automotive Touchup. A good friend of mine used their product with great success.

I think if you color sanded your car, you would freak out. Whats fair to you? I can get it anywheres. Quote:
![]() often times, its the persons ability(ies) that result in fine work. You would be surprised how many people jump the gun. Ever seen a kid start gluing a model together and work too quick? I just got a case of Cosmos Black sent from them.. I'll be scrutinizing it. Seems like they have their stuff together. Well see after some prep, sanding, prep, sanding, base, sanding, paint, etc..

sadly i am past repairing the paint job as the clear coat is pealing off the roof and quarters
i have painted a few in the past with a cheep gun and cheep paint and ive got the basics down enough to get a good result with a good gun high quality paint. As for the trunk lid what are you thinking? i was hoping to stay under $100 but with shipping i dont know if that will be doable.

2000 grit sandpaper.. and buy some clear coat from ATU.. (link in previous post)
mask prep sand trouble areas prep clear coat.. as many times as you want.. or until you run out of clear. let cure for a few weeks.. Come back to it prep mask prep color sand If you take your time, and work efficiently. It will be reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal fckin' close. Since you know how to paint.. Im assuming you have good pressure-control/can-control. trunk lid-ery.. Yeah, it would be over 100 with shipping (thinking, do I have any reason to head to OR anytime soon?)

You could just use the trunk lid. Cover a lot more birds than that rock.

Agreed, but if it's that big (bigger than a trunk lid), you probably won't be able to lift it. Roll it, maybe......

If I've got a reason to come up north, I'll just have you chip in for gas money..
If i gotta ship it, I can go square and send it thru FedPS, but its gonna be 'spensive. Or I can buy it a bus ticket and you can grab it from the bus stop. Let me check my schedule.. I'll give you more info. Either way.. it looks like your getting a trunk lid.
