Retractable Wing mirrors not operating

Hi Have a problem with my e53 X5.
The offside mirror retracts and then immediately goes out again - at the same time the near side retracts and stays retracted and nothing will make go out again. It has to be manually returned to working position.
Be greatful for any help with this problem - thank you
