Link Sport mode to throttle???

Hi guys, I drive in Eco mode or Comfort quite often as I like the smooth take-off from rest, but then you have those situations where you suddenly need to floor it to get past someone, e.g. those annoying drivers who speed up when you indicate to change into their lane.

I think it would be great if the car would automatically switch to Sport mode if the gas pedal is pushed hard or lockdown activated.

What do you all think?

I believe that sliding the shifter over into manual shift mode puts it in sport. So instead of flooring it just try slipping the gear shift over.

Thanks voip I tried it and shifting over to DS is a good move for extra punch in a hurry when not in Sport mode. It's easier to find the lever than the Sport button in this situation.

I talked to my CA, in Germany, when I took delivery about the difference between the DS mode in the transmission and full sport mode. He said that pusing the transmission into DS mode doesn't enable full Sport mode, but puts the transmission in to sport mode. He said it was useful for power increases like you describe or for quickly getting up to speed on an freeway. The mode just enables better transmision performance but doesn't make any adjustments to the streering feel, suspension, or peddle responsiveness, for those adjusments you have to push the sport mode button.

That said I agree that putting the transmission into DS mode is exactly the right solution to the OPs request on how to get more quick speed.

Solve the problem easily. Get a manual and you are in control.

Well in the situation I originally described, the manual can be even worse because of the time taken to change down when you're not really expecting to, but you're right they are more fun...
