Kidding, Yes.

OK, you are right - and I live in a world where I should be able to rely on the President of the United States who tells me that my insurance mandate cost is not a tax but a cost of living in the US -- but lo and behold, the Supreme Court of the United States tells me that it has to be a tax in order to be constitutional. And this load of BS is from a US President that supposedly taught "Constitutional Law" and said this medical mandate WOULD NEVER result in higher federal taxes or higher medical costs.

But that world is whole other disputed matter and probably needs to be on another board -

I was just trying to make the point that it seems that we have to flounder around to secure basic information on what I understand is the "buyer" credits that belong to our side of the equation in buying a car from BMW.

I don't think I can use the $1000 Team USA credit with the USAA credit - here is the information most thoughtfully posted by Jon Shafer on 4/11/12.

The BMW Drive for Team USA Allowance is available for registered attendees of The BMW Drive for Team USA Event who take delivery of an eligible vehicle as a result of event attendance.

Program Eligibility:

• $1,000 offer is valid for purchases made the day of event attendance through October 31, 2012. Offer not valid for customer purchases made prior to event attendance or customer orders placed prior to the event. Events begin in April 2012 and run through August 2012. Offer valid on eligible vehicles delivered and reported retailed through DCSNet April 17 – October 31, 2012. Eligible models include:
o All MY 2012 Vehicles
o All MY 2013 Vehicles (Excludes MY13 328i xDrive and 335i xDrive Sedans)

• Specialty, Sales, and Extended Demos qualify if delivered to an end consumer during the specified program dates.

• BMW NA Company vehicles, Retired AMP vehicles, Center Employee Lease vehicles, European Delivery vehicles, Daily Rental and EPP vehicles do not qualify.

• Offer valid to recipient of "thank you" email or any family member residing within the same household.

• Offer valid on final negotiated price and may be combined with other applicable BMW offers that are available at the time of purchase, subject to exclusions listed on this bulletin.

• The BMW Drive for Team USA Allowance cannot be used in conjunction with the Golf Cup Offer, USAA Military Program or any Event related or closing / conquest cash offers.

Just as a FYI, since the implementation of the $4,500 Eco-Credit and OLP for X5d, availability of X5 diesels has shriveled up like a California raisin.

We had bunches a month ago. Today we are sold out. Market price might actually move upward due to limited or no supply in July.

I saw an X5d commercial on the history channel on Monday, hopefully that means a full frontal diesel attack is forthcoming

Is now too late to custom order a 2012 X5 35d?

Yep, I got one of the last 5 to be produced as a 2012 (according to my CA). Production ends next week.

Just saw another X5 diesel commercial on CNN....

I cannot, for the life of me, believe that BMW is running millions in diesel commercials- and paying $4500 credits- to sell the last 100 diesels for the next FIVE MONTHS. It defies business ligic.

If they truly were going to have five months before hte 2013s arrive, they'd allow these cars to get to the lots and MAYBE offer dealer incentives as these cars aged... but they would eventually sell.

IMO, BMW will shortly announce availability for the diesel that will NOT be december.

All MHO.

Jon,

I do believe you have nailed it on the price. I was expecting a lot lower price on a quote I got back, but allocations are low right now.

I ordered mine this afternoon (7/2)...

Allocations are available, if not with your local dealer, then they can trade an allocation with another dealer. My CA mentioned 10 allocations were available with a neighboring dealer.

Now let's just hope for even more incentives in July or August

Hi. I'm new to this forum. I just ordered my X5 35d and they actually found one that fits my preferred specs with another dealer in MD. I get it next week.

Palladium gray
Cinnamon brown interior
Premium package
Cold weather package
Third row seats
Running boards
BMW apps

MSRP $64095
- $3500 dealer discount
- $4500 Eco credit
Total $56095
Oh, had them throw in free all-weather mats and clear bra
I'm pretty happy with the deal. It's nice to have some equity on a car before it even leaves the lot.

Hate to tell you, but you have no 'equity' in that deal.

NOT THAT IT IS A BAD DEAL...It is very, very good give the shrinking supply. Others may disagre, but the diesel is getting tight. Finding THE car you want AND getting the killer "500 over" deals will get tough..

6 months ago people were getting THAT car at 10,000 off MSRP, maybe even a month ago...but now it is 1000, 1500 over (I think). You are 2k more. (1500 if you factor in mats and the bra)...but who cares, right?

Just saying- dont feel bad, in the scheme of things it is not material...AND, you will likely not find what you want if you pass. Yes, you can wait until March, but that will be the price of squeezing for the best deal. Dealers will be 'stiffening up' on pricing for the last 2012s that come through before winter...

Best

Thanks. I think I'm over invoice by $1650. It would have been lower if they found a unit without the cold weather package, which was not that important to me. It was either wait for 4 weeks or get it earlier for an extra 750. My wife can't wait since she will be the one driving it most.
