Thank you for the pics Do I have to have that tool (00 9 300 in the first pic) in order to remove the old cupholder? I am not mechanically inclined; can someone give me detailed instructions on how to do this? Thank You, Mark

Rear cupholder woes
The 1998 528i that I just bought has an empty space where the rear cupholder was. I tried lifting the vent and inserting the new cupholder part (BMW 540i E39 CUP HOLDER 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 5 SERIES) but the bottom of the vent and cupholder don't seem to connect together. Do I need an additional plastic part to insert into the console that the cupholder part above fits into? Thanks

If it's the rear cupholder you need part number: 51168184520
Most people just replace the rear cupholders with the bin (http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...=STRK:MEWAX:IT) when the cupholders eventually break. The cupholders should just pop out. There aren't any fasteners holding it in. |

Tried it (using a little more force) and it worked beautifully!

Pretty easy for me, just pull on the arms (not too hard as to break them)

Does anybody know how to replace the front cup holders?

There are 2 screws holding the front. The arms must be open to get to the screws.
On a side note, my rear vents don't have temperature control! The air is always cold!! Is this what it is supposed be?? |
