2013 BMW X6 5.0 M Pachage, SO PISSSSSTTT
I just picked up the new 2013 bmw x6 5.0 with the m package. I waited for the new face-lifted model just to make sure I got the new stuff and most of all the new headlights with the squared off angel eyes. Their was an option to get LED lights when I ordered but the dealer suggested it was a waste since the HID were just as bright. Well guess what I got the X6 yesterday and what do you know its the old headlights on their, yes the old yellow circles. The dealer is at a loss as he is saying that the new model was supposed to have the new headlights like the 3 and 6 series. Guys please help, I'm not sure what to do?

Dealer is an idiot. Only the full LED option gives you the new shape angel eyes. The non LED X6 is the old system. The non LED X5 has the whiter, brighter angel eyes but not the new shape unless you get the LED option on that too. Sorry but your dealer should have known this or you should have done your research. Never rely on a salesman at a dealer. They know nothing.

Crap,,, Thanks for letting me know, Do you think It would be just a simple swap of the headlights if I could force them to change it?

No i dont. It was a $1900 option from the factory. It would be twice that as a retrofit after the fact if it was even possible which i dont think it is. Had you not taken delivery, you could have just ordered another one and waited another 4 weeks. Since you've taken possession, you're most likely going to have to live with it. Still an awesome truck though. Enjoy it.

So after inspecting the car I noticed that we also did not get the black exhaust and the black fog covers. We paid for the M package. Should I make them take it back? What else are we missing? How do I even know we got the upgraded engine specs 400hp vs 430hp for M package??????

I got them to take the car back, the sticker had everything on their but the car didnt. They didnt want to do it at first so I told them that since some of the M upgraded items were missing they would have to prove that the engine got the 30hp boost that comes with it, so they gave up. I ended up getting the X6M instead. Why the new lights, well whats the point of buying new if you could get last years model for 25k less if your not going to get any of the new upgrades? Like everything in life you want to get what you work and pay for(BTW have (black650i) seen the new vs old lights in person? they are not even close when it comes to appeal)

Why does the non-LED X5 have brighter/whiter lights than the non-LED X6?

The 08-12 X6 has the older yellow corona rings, they have been around since early 2000. The '13 has an option for the new design, this is the daytime running lights, I have not tested the LED headlight it self, but its like seeing an aging woman with older looking eyes and than young angle looking eyes
so its all to appeal

The LED lights option is worth getting imo. They make an X6 a bit more ballin.

Wow, I'm shocked the 2013 X6 still has the yellowish angel eye rings as opposed to the newer whiter ones. Even with xenon headlamps (not LED), all the new models have the whiter rings.
Is it possible they screwed up or is this true for the 2013s? |

I was shocked, too. We're kicking around the idea of a '13 X6, but this sort of makes the LEDs a must.

LED Option
Not that any of us really care about an extra $750, and the original poster really doesn't care since he is going with the X6M, but if you go for the LED option as I did on the 2013 X6 M package, you have to take the cold weather package too.
I didn't even know about the fog light/exhaust changes with the M package, because it is a subtle change on the website (web option only visually changes exhaust I think) and my salesman didn't know about the blacked out exhaust until he checked. I'll be interested to see what it does to the fog light trim if anything. |
