hey dakota, really impressed with your work. which DIY did you end up using for the PS fluid? Dougs domain looked good to me.

Thanks, means alot that guys whith such nice cars like you think im doing a good job.
I used the Dougs domain one, i intended to do the optimal flush method but i guess i misplaced my only 22mm wrench and was working later on a Sunday and couldn't go get one. I ended up doing the simple flush but instead of using a syringe i unbolted the reservoir and turned it upside down allowing me to get about a quart of fluid out. I plan to do it again in theory getting all but 1/2 a quart out. as there was no improvement in the steering i feel i may have proplems further then old fluid though.

well.. i wish you didnt ask..
i opened the hood to spray down the the pivot points and found that someone left a wrench on a transmission bolt and it was rubbing on said pivot point causing the hard steering.we can all pretend we dont know who left it there

very true, i have a problem with leaving tools in there, i left an alen wrench on the control arm which pressed up against the ac unit which was causing irregular idle.

Good job.
Make sure you collect all your tools before you close everything up. Like a surgeon leaving a scalpel in somebody, it could be bad news.

Ive been driving her a bunch today and yesterday, the exhaust manifold is still leaking a bit, i was unable to tighten all the bolts, but the big kick in the pants is its throwing the mass air flow sensor code agian.

i got a 1214 which is apparently not a code, im assuming its a
1215 bad maf 1213 lambda control 2 then after unhooking the battery and driving around the block it got 1222 lambda control 1 does the same exact thing as it did before i changed out my maf Update, i checked the codes again today after driving a bunch today and yesterday and the maf code has not come back up after clearing the codes, im thinking it may have just been stored from before the newer maf. Any one know where to look first to fix my lambda control 1 code?

Lambda Control 1 1222
This code is stored when the DME detects excessive deviations in the air-fuel mixture (too rich or too lean) for longer than 10 seconds. Possible causes: Fuel tank ran empty, Incorrect Fuel Pressure, Injector valve defective or coked, Engine Temperature Sensor defective, Secondary air leak, Fuel evaporation control system defective, Air Flow Meter defective and/or the combustion is being disturbed by mechanical failure (Spark plugs,, compression, intake/exhaust valves, ...etc.) I would look at the 02 sensor first.. disconnect the o2 sensor at the plug when the car is cold. start the car and warm it up. if the problem doesnt return, o2 sensor bad. o2 sensor is bypassed until operating temperature is reached. Then double check for vacuum leaks for the umpteenth time.. Does CEL go away when you blip the throttle? No fuel leaks? Is your evap system for the fuel tank breathing properly? Are all the gaskets on the intake manifold seated proper? Not Sure? Pull/push gently on intake manifold.. look/listen for idle RPM changes.. Idle Control Valve? Throttle Position Sensor? stab in the dark: engine temp sensor..

THANK YOU!!
![]() Ill try the o2 sensor first. I just checked all my vacuum hoses again yesterday and insured that none are leaking or are pinched. yes if i rev it past 1-1.5k it truns right off, it comes on when i stay at any rmp for 10-15 seconds but goes away if the rpms drop or rise. No fuel leaks that i can tell and ive spent quite a bit of time under the car so i assuem i would have noticed. Idle control valve has been cleaned and if it is unpluged the car will die. Is your evap system for the fuel tank breathing properly? Are all the gaskets on the intake manifold seated proper? Not Sure? Pull/push gently on intake manifold.. look/listen for idle RPM changes.. Throttle Position Sensor? ^^ for all that stuff i have absoluty no clue

Inspect, check, clean, the throttle position sensor on the side of the throttle body. Inspect, check, and find out if your intake manifold is leaking. Check engine temp sensor also.. If it works.. you'll know. There is a tiny hose on the fuel pressure regulator that tends to crack over time. It attaches to the under side of the intake manifold and its very possible a leak in that tube would not be detected. Vacuum check.. -intake boot to valve cover -intake boot to ICV -ICV to manifold -manifold to FPR -manifold to brake booster -TB to charcoal canister

Vacuum check..
-intake boot to valve cover (done) -intake boot to ICV (done) -ICV to manifold -manifold to FPR (done) -manifold to brake booster (done) -TB to charcoal canister (done) There is a tiny hose on the fuel pressure regulator that tends to crack over time. It attaches to the under side of the intake manifold and its very possible a leak in that tube would not be detected. ( if this is the one the runs from under the throttle body to down by the drive side wheel well, its been replaced and it was a pain in the ass to do so) Inspect, check, clean, the throttle position sensor on the side of the throttle body. (the throttle position sensor has been cleaned as has the inside of the throttle body and passages.) Inspect, check, and find out if your intake manifold is leaking. once my engine is cool, i will yank the crap outa that thing

i unplugged the oxygen sensor, let it warm up, and then took it on a drive to alburtsons, not a long drive but a few miles and enough that the light would have normally come on. it did not come on at all.
does this mean the o2 sensor is bad? the only difference in the drive was the idle did not always drop down as low.

I would say 02 sensor is suspect.
Check it, swap it, see if issue returns.
