Please help me evaluate this deal

So here is the offer on the table for me:

1) 2012 X5D (sports activity package, premium, premium sound, sport package, space saver spare). Sticker is $67,045. Lease price is $56,500 - they are giving me tax credits (i.e. no sales tax). $951 down - $690/month (36 mo lease) - 10k miles year.

2) They are also willing to buy my trade - a 2008 M3 Sedan - 12,500 miles, new rear tires. This was a pretty base M3 (jerez black, premium package, HD radio and that's it). Sticker was $59,650 in October 2008. They are willing to give me $40k. This deal is separate from the X5D deal - just helps me avoid having to sell elsewhere

Thoughts on either of these?

I'm not a leasing expert, so I'm not going to be helpful in determining if you are paying too much in finance charges, but the $56k price seems good. That has to be close to invoice less $4,500 eco credit.

Also no opinion on the M3 "trade-in" quote. I had a '10 coupe DCT as a loaner one day and I think they wanted $55k for it with similar miles. The sedan is definitely going to need the right buyer, the miles are crazy low, but only losing $20k depreciation in 4 years seems pretty decent to me (assuming you paid MSRP).

Do you get any tax help with the "trade-in"? Not sure how taxes for leases are handled in Texas (or any state for that matter).

No car salesman here but $40,000 sounds like a great deal for you. I think you would want to take that ASAP.

I'm certainly no expert, but those both sound good to me. I just took delivery of almost the exact same vehicle, and my price was right around $56K with one additional option (HUD). I ended up getting $2500 in credits in addition to the Eco-credit and paid $500 over invoice otherwise, so you sound fairly close to that. I pay California's ridiculous sales tax though, so that's another 8 pct on top of that. Keep us posted, and good luck.

if you don't drive that much why not get less miles to cut your payment down..you can always buy more miles before the lease runs out if needed, at 16 cents a mile.
