e39 DME replacement!! HELP!!

I had an issue withe a fried DME on my 540ia. The vehicle was out of warranty. I called and spoke with a customer service representative, they end up pick up the cost of the new DME and I had to only pay the dealership labor costs.

That is a nice option. $600 for a ready-to-go replacement ECU/DME for any modern car is reasonable.

My Touring needed a rebuilt DME under the PO... I bet it had the T-stat meltdown/coolant-hosing...! That explains another missing link...

Coolant goes up that wire in the T-stat housing, all the way across the engine, and all the way to the very back of the engine bay???
This seems like a miracle of nature...
