fuel leaking from fuel filter hose ..2001 525i
i replaced the fuel filter on my 525i....also replaced the old rubber fuel lines and hose clamps.....6 months later the rubber fuel line started leaking at the filter so i tightened it up ....two weeks later it started leaking again ...i took it in the garage and let the car run for 10 minutes while watching the line ...no leak!.......it wont leak all the time....anyway tightened up the line some more ......now 6 months later it is leaking again....pulled it in the garage and not leaking .......anyone had this problem .....i cant tighten the clamps much more or they will cut through the hose ......thinking of using a new hose and different style of clamp.....its almost like the pump is putting out a crap load of pressure at times.....causing it to leak .....any ideas would be great!!!!

i am curious, did you use unleaded gas rated rubber lines? i have seen people use things like standard rubber hoses or fuel lines meant for leaded gas which will degrade with standard unleaded pump gas.

What kind of hose clamps did you use? There are ones that are specifically designed for high pressure fuel lines.

If your hose is too big it wont seal. Should be a tight fit

Change the hose clamps immediately! Use only high quality ones...Wurth are good, but there are several other good brands....don't use the crap at OReillys, Pep Boys or AutoZone...find the good imported fromGermany ones. For most jobs, it is worth it to simply use new clamps each time

Napa should have the correct fuel hose clamps.
