Car won't start help needed please

Well yesterday I drove my car fine to lunch and when some I go to start it and no start. The car is a 93 BMW 325is 5 speed. I check for spark which is goof. It changed both dme and fuel pump relay and still no luck. Car turns over but won't start finally I check the fuel pump and notice it doesn't have power but when hooked up directly it fires up. Can anyone please help with any suggestion. Thanks you guys dir any help.

Crank position sensor and/or cam position sensor. The ECU won't send power to the pump if it "sees" no movement from those sensors when you're cranking.

Crank sensor went out on my 318. No spark, no injector pulse, no fuel pump power. Replaced sensor and all went back to working. You might as well replace both the cam and crank sensors at the same time. They aren't expensive, and they're sort of a pain to get to the connectors (under the manifold).

Reverse polarity? You fried the ECU if you had the battery connected backwards. No wonder it won't crank.

God, the idiots at Autozone strike again... Your old battery did not have reverse polarity. Since the E36 was not designed to run with reverse polarity, there is no way it could have been a reverse polarity battery. The last car I worked on that had reverse polarity was a '70s MG Midget...

I repeat: the ECU is fried. Believe me. All it takes is jumping the car and accidentally connecting the jumper cables backwards to kill an ECU. Just connecting them, not even trying to start it.

The battery did NOT have reverse polarity. Autozone screwed up and tried to make you believe it was the fault of the battery. IT WASN'T. It was either connected wrong when they put it in, or if they tried to charge it in the car they had the connections backwards.
