Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out which wheel configuration would be right to get for my 2011 528i. I'm considerating getting a 19 x 8.5(F) & 19 x 9.5(R) with offsets 35mm (F) & 38Mm (R) or 18 x 8(F) & 18 x 9(R) with the same offsets. Those are the spec I got from the rims i'd like to get but I don't actually know if I should get one with some different specs.
The same goes for tires, I don't know which would be the best tires, what should be the specs for them. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Here's a handy calculator: Wheels and Tires
Most guys here at the Fest have picked Michelin Pilot Super Sports for Summer tires or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for all season tires. Stock BMW rim widths & offsets for the F10: 8 0 -30mm 8.5 - 33mm 9 - 44mm

Thanks for the info @dunderhi. Do you have any specific suggestion for the size of the tires for either the 19 or 18 inch rims since my current tires size that came with the car are 225/55/R17 (Goodyear Eagle LS2 run on flat) and I suppose that I would need to get tires with smaller sidewall hight to not get any rubbing.
Thanks. |

I put aftermarket rims on my F10 (550i) that are same specifications as the ones you're looking at (19 x 8.5 (F) & 19 x 9.5 (R) and 35mm (F) & 38mm (R)). As for tire size, I use 245/40/19 (F) and 275/35/19 (R) which are the stock tire sizes for F10s equipped with "Sport" package. The wheels look much more flush than the stock wheels and the stance is more aggressive. I've attached a picture of my setup. Sorry for the crappy quality, it's a phone pic. I hope this helps!

Thanks a lot! @Bigken620. Those are exactly the aftermarket wheels I was looking at. The picture looks good and I believe your car is the same color as mine Alpine White.
Thanks again! PS: what did you do for TPMS? Did you get new sensors and caps? If so did you have your new wheels installed at the BMW dealership or some other place? |

Yep these are the M5 replicas from YSM (China). The wheels are cast (rather than forged) and so far I haven't had any quality issues yet. They're also much lighter than my stock 332-style wheels so that was a nice bonus. I guess only time will tell if I start having issues but at $750 for an entire set, I couldn't resist!
![]() I used the original TPMS and center caps from my stock wheels and I even used the tires (run-flats) from my stock wheels. I took it to a local shop here to swap the tires. It's a standard job that any tire shop can do. |

Bigken.. Nice wheels on your 5er. What was the YSM wheel number and from which website did you order them off? I agree with you that at $750 they are a steel.

I bought them from Unlimited Automobile Products out of CA. Their part number is BM528. The website is: http://www.uapone.com/bmw/338-bm528-...heels-set.html and they're $769 free shipping.

I might actually consider these and just plop new tires on them. I'm tired of BMW wheels and tire decisions - and not standing behind any of it. |

Strength of wheel manufacturing processes:
1. Forged 2. Cast hub/spokes and pressure rolled rim (flow formed, spun forged, etc) 3. Pressure cast 4. Gravity cast For any given process, more weight should be stronger. More spokes should be stronger. More equally spaced spokes should be stronger. Spokes that are more centered on the rim should be stronger. Of course today's fashionable styles lead to weaker wheels. I have no doubt my 19lb BBS wheels are stronger than the stock 34lb BMW wheels.

But in this case the wheels are cast, have few spokes, and are lighter than OEM which I would say is risky.

That's not my car. It's a pic I found on the vendor website. But they do look great. Look like HREs but at half the price.

lol exactly! I did not want to spend that much on wheels and I love the Morr wheels on Alan's car so the Avant Garde m310's are the closest I could find that were not expensive. As far as the wheels I have read nothing but good things about them online.

Don't forget that for $1200 you can get some VMR VB3 CSL Reps in 20" that look great on F10's and look very close to the BBS CH-R's. Obviously the quality won't be the same as BBS but probably not any worse than the M sport wheels, tbh.
