Goodbye diesel community....for now
Just turned in my leased 2011 335d. This was my first diesel and I wasn't sure I'd like it so I did only a 24 month lease. Turned out I really liked the car, the addictive torque, and the great fuel economy. Was sold on getting another diesel as a replacement, but when it became apparent that there was not going to be a diesel BMW sedan alternative when my lease ended (I had already leased an X5 before - nice vehicle, but I didn't want another SUV), I jumped on the killer 750i hybrid lease deal that was available this spring.
The M550dX was going to be my dream car as I wanted something slightly larger than a 3-series. I'm still holding out hope that they'll eventually offer it in N.A., or come out with some other performance-oriented diesel. In the meantime, I'll spend the next two years sneaking up on people in the 750 hybrid (0-60 in 4.7 sec., and burning only about 50% more fuel than the 335d!). Thanks for the help over the last couple of years. I'll continue to lurk around this forum, hoping to see info on more diesels coming to N.A. BTW, I have a used JBD that's no longer of use to me. Contact me if interested - I'll give you a hell of a deal on it. |

I'm also waiting to see if BMW sends the 5 series diesel to the US. If not, I'll probably be driving a Benz or an Audi in a year of so.

If a 535d had been available here a little more than a year ago I'd be driving it now instead of my Bluetec.BMW had me...very much had me...but lost me by dropping the ball.

It seems the Hrybrid option is better within the city and a diesel for highway miles, now if they would only create a diesel/hybrid option! I'm sure someone is already working on this!

You are wrong.
GM/New Flyer is manufacturing hybrid busses: http://editorial.autos.msn.com/artic...umentid=435202They seem to save some fuel, in most conditions. |

750 AH. Interesting choice after 3 series diesel. I wonder why wouldnt you consider M5. Are you taking 2012 or 2013. I read 2013 is LCI and has ton of changes from 2012 specially new iDrive
Edit: Just noticed your Mein auto 2012. Lease deal must be really good you chose pre-lci Last edited by bimmerdiesel; 07-03-2012 at 12:29 PM. |

I never ventured into lease or imagined a car that costs double has somewhat similar lease deal. 50i definitely has a great engine. I read good reviews abt it. I wish I could drive it sometime before it is replaced with something else. |
