Need new navigation cd!

I need a new navigation cd for my 2006 550i. It's the one that goes in the dash. Does anyone know where I can get one? Thanks

I bought 2012 version of the disk at a dealer for $199. I believe some dealers will let you order/ship online too.

A couple of issues here. First of all, a 2011-2012 disc will not work in your car unless you've had the iDrive updated to one of the last few versions. Make sure that it's not a brown menu screen. The newer versions have a grayish screen. Even then, you may have some issues due to different layering technology- I actually went back to my stock 2007 disc due to load issues, and returned the 2011 disc (took an act of god).

I'd check out ebay for an OEM BMW 2006-2007 disc- The presentation really looks about the same, and POIs didn't vastly improve. These can be had pretty cheaply, but make sure it's a reliable seller- There are a lot of fakes out there.

I have a brown CCC screen and the 2012 disks work without a problem.

Of course you do. But you don't have a 2006. And that's where the issues lie (direct from BMW, BTW), fixed by the update.

OK. The splash screen is brown, the menu screen is grayish.

Did you get one of the latsest updates, or was it because it wasn't loading? I still use a 2007.1 disc because of this (the same mapping and poi info). I do have they greyish screen, but a 2009 disc didn't read after an update due to a Sirius module. You would think an update would fix (almost) everything.

This is interesting. I have a 2007 and I just got some 2011 DVD's via eBay. I hope they work.

Even after I got the update, the 2011 disc worked, but intermittently. As in... 1 out of 10 starts it would freeze (in nav load) and tell me to insert the disc. And I have the absolute (1/2012) latest updates for the CCC and car. I've had no issues at all with the original disc, pre- and post-update. Odd.

Actually the Navteq 2012 DVD Pro disk works just fine in my 2005 545. I don't have any issues with the DVD. I think you should get your VIN number and call dealer to ask for the price and part number. There are a couple of versions of the disks, depending on the setup you have in your car. Buying it from ebay is risky.

Update. Received the professional 2011 2 disc set today. I need the west coast dvd and of course it doesn't work. Both dvd's are OEM with a reciept from January 2011. When I insert the west coast dvd, it says 'Please insert Navigation DVD' or it will say that it can't read the disc/ disc error. Sometimes it'll say, 'New DVD version. Please shut down system and restart after 5 minutes. I wait at least 10 minutes and still no go. The dvd looks pretty good. The east coast version works but is useless since I live in Tx. Any ideas guys? Anyone out there got a 2011 west coast they wanna trade? Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased the 2012 Nav discs for my 2006 M5 from user lmm1005 on ebay - searched for BMW Navigation System Update - only paid $60. I strongly suspect they are not actual BMW OEM, however, they have performed flawlessly.

Mike,
I think you'll have problems with that disc as stated at the top of this thread. Your firmware is probably too old to read that disc. You'll either need to get a firmware update or find a 2007 or older disc. I purchased an OEM 2009.1 disc from Ebay and my car has issues reading it. From what I understand, there were problems with the data on the 2009 discs. I'm not totally sure if it's just the drive itself dying or if the double layer format is causing read issues. My drive will read the disc with no problem initially, but if I have the assist window set for a map without navigation active, it'll stop tracking me and turn off after about 20 minutes. If I have the navigation running, it'll run without problems until I'm finished using it.

I stil haven't had the chance to meet with my two friends who have BMW's with Nav. Hopefully something positive will happen. If not, I'll sell the Nav DVD for what I paid for them.
