Promised Pics 2013 X3 35i Msport

Attached are some pictures and some initial impressions of the 2013 X3 35i Msport with DHP for people out there trying to make buying decisions. I now have 900 miles on her.

I'll start with a few soft spots:
- The BMW AC system performs below avaerage in 90+ heat; you'll likely find yourself playing around with fan setting while in AUTO mode to stay comfortable. There are 3 problems here. AC is not cold enough, stop/start taxes system, fan speed seems out of sync with what's needed to maintain temp selected.
- The radio is overly complicated to use and sound quality is very average
- Google functionality w/ NAV not working
- Noticeable wind noise coming off driver side mirror at speeds over 70mph
- No rear DVD system offered
- Driver cannot open all 4 doors of vehicle without literally hitting the center console (idiotic location) door unlock button so for those with kids you'll either need to idrive set all 4 doors to open stay open at drive off so their not locked when or you can idrive auto lock the doors at drive off and deal with this poor design

Likes:
- Acceleration is in the stunning category for a 4,000lb vehicle- LOVE IT!
- Handling defies the laws of physics...can't wait to explore sport+ mode and paddles when engines broken in
- Aesthetics inside and out are a total home run especially w/ Msport package
- Power tailgate
- idrive is fun
- Ambiant lighting is really cool
- My kids love it

900 miles on her so far, can't wait for the next 500!!

The oyster interior provides a nice contrast to an otherwise sea of black. ... looks a lot less masculine than all black.

I have the oyster interior in my F10 and it is fantastic....except the slight blue tint the driver's seat has acquired from my bluejeans.

Plate bracket

I used the go mini go tow hook plate holder because i didn't want to drill into the bumper.

Jen, I was over at Motorwerks the day you took the photos. Actually, bought a non-BMW that day from them. I am looking at buying an X3 almost identical to yours. If possible, maybe my wife and I can meet with you to see your car. If I remember from an earlier thread, you negotiated a good price on your purchase. I'd like your insight. Thanks

Completely agree that the door unlock issue with BMWs is lame. However, with the recode you can change it!

Jen, the car looks great... Identical to ours I must admit. As for the unlocking issue, I initially felt the same as you, but I've just gotten into the routine of unlocking the car as we press the start/stop button. Its sort of become one motion now as your hand is already headed to the dash. It really doesn't matter in a couple weeks. Of course, this will all change once I get to programming. As for your other concerns, eh, I can't say I agree. The radio seems fine, sounds plenty nice enough for us (my last car had Bose and our other BMW has the HK system) and the Nav system has been really good for us. The voice commands work perfectly and the directions have been really good for us. I do agree that a rear DVD system would be nice, but aftermarket is always an easy option...

Good luck with your new X.... And don't you just love the exhaust grunt when you manual shift under heavy acceleration..??
