What year is my car?
I've been looking around at all the VIN checker websites and they've all said the same thing. 1987 325/E Automatic. But when I went to realoem to look for stuff, they were saying it's an '86 made in October. Who should I trust?

Both are correct. The "born on" date is frequently late in the year prior to model year. You have an '87. It was made in October of '86. My '85 was made in Dec of '84. My E24 is an '85, but was made in Oct. of '84. Both my E36s were made in September of the year prior to the model year: '93 M/Y made 9/92, and '95 M/Y made 9/94.

From selling autoparts for the past 6 years I've learned "almost" anything made after August is considered next model year.

My VIN was everywhere on my car
 2 or 3 spots in the engine compartment, one in the dash at the top, and I think one in the trunk
