2001 E-39, 525i Sport

My windscreen wipers only work each time I manually push the button.
If I turn them on they will only work for a few minutes then shut off and I'm back to manually. It is a potentially dangerous distraction and I would like to repair it. I have replaced the relay, and the motor.
I welcome any and all suggestions for repairing.
