See...this is what I was saying all along despite the fact that many people did not want to hear it.

Not hear what exactly? I personally find it hard to tell what that price means without knowing any details about the car. My car brand new was not much more than $36k but I know it is not worth anywhere near that number today.

Can you share the Manheim details with us? I'm trying to trade my car and am getting offers $3-4K lower.

My car is a 2011 and stickered just under $58k - just about every option including M-sport. We plugged in 13k miles. The dealer (I purchased 3 cars from the guy in the past so we have a pretty good working relationship) logged into the system and showed me the low, middle and high number. They only go off of Manheim for trades (as a starting point) - we all know that a dealer will almost never give you close to KBB trade value because it is so inflated.

Yes. Your 30k miles puts you at the low end of the below average Manheim values and, as such, you are getting dinged about 4k from what an average car would fetch. It really does sound like your offer was a fair one. With your mileage I would expect you to get 32k-33k for it.

Interesting so my 2009 with 29k miles should be worth ...... nevermind, I got pissed off when I found out worth when it has 20k miles 6-7 months ago

I would suspect the car will sell in the low to mid-30's. From your post you are wondering if it will hold value if you keep for awhile. I suspect not. Old model design ( although great engine). I have a 2010 (11/2009 build) 335d with 37,500 miles. I have Jet black, sunroof, premium, cold weather, sport, navigation, Sirius, iphone kit and winter rims/wheels. Car is great but I moved to Europe (and shipped the car over with me) and am looking to upgrade. I am currently looking to sell mine in the European market and from what I see the prices are about 20% higher here for comparable cars and I'm seeing about 33,000 euros for this car.
I would guess that I could sell mine for around $30-$32K in US. For your optioned car, I would say around same price (maybe a grand or 2 more because it is 1 year newer with less miles). When I was ordering my car the dealer said you MUST buy premium package and Navigation for resale (everything else was no big deal). Last edited by efhanover75; 07-13-2012 at 07:58 AM. |

This was about $2K higher than my lease residual (a first for me, by a long shot). Unfortunately, due to the screwy TX sales tax laws on leases, there was no easy way for me to take advantage of my "equity" in the lease. |
