Headlight assembly

I am looking to purchase a new headlight assembly for both sides for my 2002 745Li, does anyone know a good site or place to get them at a reasonable price, I see they go for $1300 for one, I just hate the fog on the inside of mine now, thats the only reason I want to replace them, help

Not much on the way of reasonable pricing for a new one. Used go for roughly 600 on ebay. May want to check there if you are willing, or a junkyard in the area just may have a 7 series there and not parted out yet since not many people can part it out anyways...

+1 on eBay or junkyard.

I would like to add that if you are going to buy new lights it is certainly worth it to try to clean them. Members have buffed the outer lenses, opened them and cleaned the inside, and even dropped a magnet with a cloth wrapped around it into the headlight. Do a search. There are several techniques worth trying before you drop 2 g's.

Check out this website,
Fixmyheadlights.com

I live in South FL and met up with this guy today. Restored my headlights to like new .. I'm impressed and highly recommend him. You can order the DIY kit if you're not local to him.

Ok, I took some pics really quick before rushing out. Here are the results, I think if the car was facing the sun, the pics would look better. But they did come out great.

If you just buff the outside the fogginess will come back fairly quickly. You need to clear coat it or put a clear bra on it to keep it from fogging. Also on the 2002-2005 models you need to clean the lense from the inside.

To do this most folks will remove the bulb and slip in a magnet with a buffing cloth attached to it + a string (to pull it back out) and buff it that way.

CS, would you remove the highbeam bulb to drop the magnet in?

You're right, I don't see those either. I think they were excluded.

Success story on the magnet technique! Was a really pain in the *** to access and squeeze the magnet+cloth soaked in rubbing compound thru the bulb hole, but all worthy!!! Especially the left side unit. Now I don't want to trow up when I see the clean headlights!
Note: Headlights are gonna look great mostly on the front part since the outside corners are too narrow for anything to squeeze in and buff the oxidation up.

I did my own as well with 3M Restore kit from Advance Auto Parts. Cost about $35 and takes about 15-20 minutes per headlight. (to do a really good job)

Here is an alternative. Send him your lights and he restores them (inside and out). Nice guy and willing to talk.

good luck!
