In case anyone has not seen the February review, actually, two reviews on CNET. Whatever you do, do not miss the VIDEO review by a different reviewer.

They love this car. The video reviewer only has one thing he did not like about this car...guess what it was!!!

Well go to 5:40 or so and find out what they say about the N20. Not that good.

The real comparison is to the outgoing underpowered six. The N20 walks all over it.

A.S.S. is applied to both the N20 and the N55, is it not? I'm surprised there's so much hostility here towards those who point out the system is poorly executed. I'm fine with the idea in concept, but it was not well executed on the Team USA car I drove, so I'd disable it if it were my car. It's not a religious war, it's just an opinion.

Only a non-owner would slag the N20. If it's not your cup of tea because it's not an I6, that's fine. But to call it garbage is pure foolishness.

Wow, can't you just enjoy your E90 and let the N20 owners enjoy their cars? FWIW, I don't know if this review is of the V6 ES350 or not but;
  1. It's ugly as sin
  2. Interior is ugly too
  3. 0-60 is actually clocked at 6.4 seconds
  4. Also, 22 city and 28 highway does not a 328i MPG beater make
  5. Did I mention it's ugly? Yeah, Fugly

You can probably find over a dozen cars that are cheaper than the 3 series and have better fuel economy and are faster too. It still doesn't explain why the 3 series keeps winning shootouts... must have something to do with farfugnugan or whatever the BMW version is.

We get that you don't like the N20, from the first time you ragged on it about 100 similar posts ago.

Yeah, when I was on a curvy, interstate toll road yesterday doing 85 mph in Sport Mode and the car was behaving like a champ, all I could think of was, "boy, this 4-banger sucks!"

The non-owner bad mouthers need to just go away.

I wouldn't go that far but once someone has made their point, it's time to move on. Constant bitching about the same point is not going to make BMW change their mind.

How is that numerically possible? ES350 V6 is rated 21/31/24 (0-60 in 7.1 sec.) while the 328 is rated 23/33/26 (0-60 in 5.9 sec.)

Maybe he's using his 2007 E90's figures instead?

It's not possible, he's just spouting a bunch of crap because BMW took his beloved inline six away on the new models.

The problem is that some people can't get off of the idea that "Item X is A, B and C." When the company that makes Item X changes it to D, E and F, they flip out.

Life is about change.

You are right, life is about change, but many can't accept it. Must suck to be them.

Just wait until we get no-cylinder engines. Electrics are coming, and I'm looking forward to change.

I was going to buy a Tesla Model-S actually but it was a bit too big, too expensive and too many unknowns for this go-round. 3 years from now, who can say.

... which is mind-numbingly stupid, because, as has been pointed out countless times, if you want some of the common options, a 335 can be as little as $3k more, which is pennies if you really care about having a six. I guess if you always have to have the latest and greatest and can barely afford to hang onto the last rung, you'd be disappointed about losing your 6cyl to a vastly superior 4cyl option. But this is not the same thing as BMW doing away with the 6, it's making the 'entry level' car better in every way.

Price difference on my config for the 335i was about $3500.

They are pretty close though and as most of my driving these days is commuting, I would prefer to have the better fuel economy of the 328i's N20. The N20 also handles just a touch better. I have test driven the E90 plenty of times... the N20 simply walks away from it in every area other than one... engine noise.

Usually my stereo is playing loud enough that engine exhaust sound serenading me is not much of a concern.

the question is has he ever driven one? because honestly guys other than the steering feel which I maybe able to see the E90 appealing to some folks, the E30 with the N20 is a much more superior car. Hell just the plain interior along of the E90 makes an upgrade to an E30 a must.

Yup, these new cars are so quiet I don't get how anyone can complain about engine noise, unless they plan on going after market exhaust (which is not my bag, baby). I never thought I'd say "go for the smaller engine", but, hell, the 328 is quicker than my M Coupe, and it's a damn sedan, not a sports car! PLENTY of go in the 328.

I agree about the Tesla. My issue is, the only reason for me to buy a 'big' car is for roadtrips, because I don't commute.

If I was the average joe looking for a 3er/5er/Merc/Audi/whatever for my commute to my job at Intertrode, I'd buy a Model S in a HEARTBEAT. People buying $50k+ sedans have other cars they can take on the rare occasion they go farther than 100 miles from home, and the Tesla would absolutely excel at the daily commute grind.
