Just picked up my F30 335i yesterday and drove it in to work today. No steering wheel vibrations other than the ones intended by the Lane Departure Warning. I guess I got lucky. I absolutely love my new ride!

I got the M Suspension with 19". BTW, I know some of you have voiced that you like the 18's, but I am really happy with my 19's so far. Looks amazing on the car and rides well too.

Mine hardly vibrates when you take your hands off the wheel. When I say hardly I mean BARELY. Do I just have less of the issues or what? Is there any reason to be concerned?

The steering wheel on our new X1 with 1000km on the clock vibrates. It's slight, rather like a small current being passed to the wrists and is noticeable in the city but truly uncomfortable on longer trips.

I think our issue is different: it's present at any speed and only when the car is in gear, there is no detectable vibration when the car is stationary/ moving in neutral (even at 100km+ in neutral) I believe motor vibration is being transmitted to our wrists.

That said, the car is not very stable above 90km and rocks and bounces along the motorway making pretty everyone car sick after a few hours. It's going back on Monday so let's see what they say but I drive a lot of rentals for work and the one we bought (for the brand and its looks) is by far the worst I have ever driven.

That's bothersome. Hope they're able to find the cause of the problem.

My 335i is having the steering vibration issue, this happens sometime while cruising at around 40-50 miles. It feels more like electric pulses passed to the steering. Dealership tried balancing the wheels, but it did not fix the issue. This is happening intermittently. Anyone else facing this issue?

Car is a 2014 335i Msport with passive suspension.

PS:Sorry to resurrect a 2 year old thread.

I had this issue from when I bought my 2014 328i base model. Mine was a slight shimmy at around 45-55 MPH. Dealer road-force balanced the tires and did a rotation but it was still there. I now have about 3500 miles on the car and I can say that the issue is diminishing. I am coming to the conclusion that it may have been tire issues from sitting on the dealer's lot too long in hot weather.

Hopefully it is the tires, I have set up an appointment with the dealership for next week.

I have had vibration problems with most of the brand new cars I have bought over the years (I am probably too sensitive) and have spent way too much time looking for other causes after road force balancing all the wheels: checking alignment, brake discs, drivetrains, suspensions....etc...etc. I can tell you from experience with 99.999% confidence that it's one or more of your wheels or tires and you'll likely never know which until you replace all four wheels (and tires) with another set which should eliminate the vibration, and introduce all of your four original wheels one at a time till you find the culprit. Since I am 100% sure the dealership will never actually do that, I usually just replace the entire wheelset. It is expensive indeed, but I'd rather get it over with than waste my time with the dealer.

PS. Just had to do it last month on my brand new Golf mk7 (3 miles on the odo)

I'll add my two cents.

I own a 2013 F30 with Nov 2012 build date.

I had the same issue with the vibrating wheel around 35-50 MPH. After a long process and back and forth the field engineer authorized the dealer to replace the steering rack and pinion. There was a 6 month delay getting the part in from Germany. Did it fix it no, it only made it better.

The field engineer testified in court that it was not a mechanical issue and solely road feel. That out of concern to for customer satisfaction and customer preference he replaced the steering rack and pinion. He added that the delay was due to BMW "upgrading" the quality of the part.

The steering wheel vibration is a feature of the blind spot detection package. The 2015 328d I had as a loaner was vibrating (similar to the force feedback you get with a computer steering wheel) when I was attempting to make a turn while another car was in my blind spot (orange x light on the mirror was lit)

Don't have blind spot detection on my F30. 100% not related

Update from the dealership after performing a road force balance- One of the tires is out of spec and is weighing 13 pounds more than the spec. They are waiting to get approval from BMW to replace the tire. This is a Continental Summer Run flat.

Whoa, what did they use, lead belts instead of steel? Let us know if that solves the issue.
