Question Hi~~ newbie question 2012 4-door or coupe

Hi! Newbie here. Got questions for the 3-series gurus. I've searched around, but not sure if I'm correct.

I can't decide between the coupe and sedan. Spent few hours to research. Looks like 2012 coupe is still base on previous generation 3 series. It's E90 not the current F30 platform. However, 2012 3-series sedan is a totally new design.

If the current coupe is not based on F30, will there be a new coupe redesign soon?

I don't know the exact schedule but usually the coupe and convertible come out a year or two after the sedan. The question is will it be badged as a 3 or a 4 series?

I thought it was coupes- Fall 2013 convertibles- Spring 2014. But I could easily be wrong. I think thats how they did it with the E92/3. Can anybody here set me straight?

Also, maybe we should start a sticky for F32/F33 rumors and info. I can't be the only one anxiously waiting for the 2 door to come out.

Jackson, you are not the only one. I'm just struggling with whether I can wait over a full year until I can get the new coupe. I'm ready to buy NOW.

Reasons to buy the coupe now:

inline 6 for the 328. Bulletproof.
stellar platform
you will get a great deal.

reasons for the sedan:

8 speed tranny is great
4 banger turboed for the 328 makes more HP/Torque than the 6
2 extra doors.

Reason NOT to buy the coupe now:

It has a boring appearance, shaped like a tear drop. Lame.

An alternate proposal is to lease a current generation coupe (E92). I think the 36 month lease is standard, but you may be able to get something shorter term. During your lease, the new 3-Series (4-Series?) coupe will come out, and you will have a chance to decide if you like it or not.

Then you have a couple of alternatives:
1. Assuming you DO like the new style coupe, turn in your E92 coupe when the lease expires, and purchase the new coupe (F32?).
2. Assuming you DON'T like the new style coupe, simply purchase your old car (E92) at the end of the lease for the pre-agreed price (residual).
