Can you still custom order 2012 X5 Diesel

Hi all,

I am looking into helping my dad get a new X5 Diesel, but as people have been posting it is harder to find them in stock let alone one with certain options and colors. I was wondering if you can still order one from the factory, or have they stopped taking orders and are just clearing out the 2012's to make room for the 13'? Also, since the dealers don't have them on the lot I assume the deals you would get on one custom ordered would not be too good. Thanks in advance for anyones help.

OP, I've emailed the CA at the dealership where I got mine 3 weeks ago to see if they still have any allocations. I'll let you know what he says.

Prices are surely going up as supply thins out. dealers know this and will simply NOT make cheap deals. IMO

A local dealer speculated that the X5 diesel supply is being affected by retooling of the plant to start making X4 models. True or not, don't know.

I think I've tried to explain the problem in multiple threads already.

1) Eco-Credit boost spurred sales spike depleting inventories.
2) Delivery Stop/Campaign (~recall) has created a parts shortage.

These are the facts, they will building them until buildout at the end of CY 2012.

Over 500 diesels on the used market for sale on cars.com at any given time. Over 700 new and used on autotrader. Diesel is the least special (meaning not rare) variant of the X5 this side of a 3.0i and you can probably make a good deal on one with a little search effort. But if you want AD, maybe you that's a tougher search because diesel with AD is very rare.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'm gonna go to the dealer this weekend and see what they have and if they can still order a X5 35d.

So Jon, what's the timeline? When the lease is up on my 2012 in 2015, the F15 will be in the second year of production so that you and I get to do the new X5, right? I don't want the first year production of anything!
