Have you managed to convert MP4 music videos to DVD format that are playable in the car's DVD player?

I just coded this option to my car with the Esys software and an Enet cable, its alot cheaper $25 for the cable and the software is free, and you can set it back to default if you have to visit the dealer

Exclamation DVD resolution and format!!!

Hello all, With so many posts of everyone being able to enable the DVD in motion. DOES anyone know what is the best format (resolution) to burn DVDs to. a lot of the movies and videos I burn only show in 40% of the screen (black bars on left and right) sometimes in the top and bottom.

With out me burning 50 different formats of the same video..... ..... can someone tell me which resolution shows the least amount of dead black space. Thanks I appreciate it

I bought a disc from dvdinmotion.com for $175 USD....SIMPLE install....just burn the file onto a CD-R and put the CD-R into your car....the program starts right up. It takes 2 minutes to do. Best mod yet.....NAV-TV wanted $600 for a module.....other vendors were trying to figure out how to do this......but now it's done.

Email Lucie at dvdinmotion.com.....she was very helpful. Mine didn't work at first....she recognized the problem....did a quick recode....and now it works fine.

You are all welcome.
too bad you are not in SoCal. for half that price i got my car coded with many options including DVD in Motion.
i want to get a laptop setup so i can do my own. but Alex is great in coding and takes about 15mins. so why.

Go to the Coding section of the forum. Everything you'll need is there. Just buy the enet cable, download the software, follow the guides and you can do this and many other options for the cost of the cable.

I just coded my car in 35 minutes on Friday

I have a 2011 535i that I bought used a couple years ago. It has the rear entertainment system, which is great for my little kids, but it is nearly impossible to work once you are off and moving. Yesterday, I got coded to enable DVD in motion, hoping to get the video up front so my wife can work the system while we are on a road trip. If I have the DVD in the rear system, I get a message on the front screen that says "video not possible from the rear system". If I put the DVD in the in-dash player, it recognizes as a DVD, but all I get is a black screen. I don't have the DVD changer in the glove box. I have enabled front control in iDrive. Am I missing something? Is there any way to get the video up front so we can see what is going on in the back?

Thanks

Maybe it's just me but it looks like watching movies while driving might impair your ability to text while driving....

Dude, watch movies with your eyes, text with your thumbs, and steer with your knees. No problem!

Hope this answers your question. The front screen will play DVD based on your option list, but you'll need to have the car "coded" in order to continue play while moving. Otherwise the car will stop playing the DVD. Note this only applies to front player. The rear entertainment is designed to run while moving obviously.

If you need help with coding, I recommend Rich aka Octopump. He does the work remotely and explains everything. Another option to obtain the software + cable to do it yourself.
