2004 e60 530i, battery won't hold charge doesn't start in morning
Hello all was hoping for some answers ive done hours of research already but have gotten multiple answers
The light indicator next to the shifter lights up all the time when in the "P" position, i figured that could be why my carseems to lose battery charge overnight and doesn't even crank in the morning, is it possible that light could use up my battery? Does leaving my car unlocked (park it in backyard) stop itfrom going into sleep mode? And i know having the key close to the car "wakes it up could it br possible that since my key is place about 30 feet from the car stop itfrom going into sleep mode? I didn't think the signal range would be that far The owner i got it from had it parked for a while (about 2 months) could that lead to a dead battery? I charged it yesterday and itstarted but today its lost its charge again, is a new battery the solution or possibly a new fsu? Thank you for any help/advice |

It sounds like your battery is done. If you had jump started it too often, you might as well replace it with a new IBS also. When the IBS is defective due to too many jump starts, it fails to put your car to sleep and shut off anything that could drain the battery. I experienced similar situation and ended up with a new CCC, battery, positve battery cable and IBS.

Thanks! i was hoping it was that instead of the couple other things, i was thinkin maybe my FSU was the problem, where do you suggest i get my battery from stealership or aftermarket? I should probably go the dealer route since i would need to get it "coded" anyway

Go with after market battery. Just keep in mind the type of battery you have (agm or lead acid) you must stay with that. White housing is lead acid, black housing is agm. Have the dealer register the battery. Then get the ibs when you leave and install when you get home.

If the price is a huge difference, go with after market with "same specs" like your original battery. Do your own install, save $100 bucks or more and use it to have the battery registered by an Indy Shop (less than $50 bucks or free). After two (or was it three?) OEM battery, I decided to go after market and have had no problem after a year or so. Battery registration takes less than a minute to do. You can use INPA software to do it. I would suggest after market also. I just replaced my battery with a Bosch. BMW specialist indy shop replaced it and registered it. I saved around $300. instead of getting ripped off by BMW. They gave me an AGM battery in place of the lead acid. Same specs but 50 CCA more than OEM battery. sorry for opening the tread=====
i have the same problem with that paticular light on. I replaced the battery and it is still there. did replacing the IBS fix the problem??? I am so curious since I just paid $300 to replace and program the battery. Please tell me that is the thing to do. IBS |

What does programing a battery entail? I'm trying to decifer if I can go with an Autozone battery or if I need to go to a service shop...I am being quoted $330 from a service shop including programing.
