roadside assistance & AAA
hey everyone i'm a newbie here. i was driving my mom around all day to run her errands and my run flats tire completely blew out. due to a panic mode and having my nagging mom w/ me, i completely forgot i had bmw roadside assistant. & end up calling AAA & got charged for $120 for the distance of mileage. my question is... do you guys think i can get an reimbursement? i could have gotten this whole thing taken care of at no charge!! so angry at myself.
any suggestions??

Umm, no. They most likely have different contracts with the same people. But you can try.

Ouch. You could certainly ask the question at your dealer about reimbursement, but I think it is a long shot.
I am assuming you had to buy a tire, since it was a blowout. The main problem I see, is that the tires are not really covered by your new car warranty. Therefore, even if you had done the "right" thing and called roadside assistance, you would have still had to pay for the tire. And their only option would be to flatbed your car to the BMW dealer. Yes, you maybe called the wrong people, but you didn't have a lot of good options, given the circumstances. Mothers normally are not equipped with a "mute" button. In the big picture, $120 is not a fortune. Sometimes life hands you a lemon; try not to worry about it too much.

Where did AAA tow you to? To the best of my knowledge BMW Assist will tow you to the nearest BMW dealer and AAA will tow you to the nearest AAA station. It is not a bad idea to have both. If you need help during a time when the BMW dealer is not open you may get stuck overnight and with AAA there is a good chance of 24/7 service.

Basic AAA membership gets you the first 3 miles free and $3 a mile after that...
AAA+ gets you 100 miles distance. |

premier only gets you one 200 mile tow per year though, and you are limited in the number total call outs (I think 6 per year per member) This included things such as tires, lockouts, etc.
If you have Allstate ins, you can get Allstate roadside assistance. It's similar to AAA and not part of your insurance policy. It was cheaper than AAA and IMO, it was the only good thing about my policy. I've switched companies (was getting charged 2k more a year at allstate) and have gotten AAA Premier.
