Thumbs down Do not use Weatherford BMW service department

Another complete rip off:
This is my first time experience with this business, I am amazed they are in the business of repairs. As a mechanical, aeronautical and medical design engineer, I appreciated the German engineering and hence purchased BMWs over the past 40 years. I took my 2007 X5 for the free check up and was told there is nothing wrong, then I mentioned to the service adviser that my water level indicator came on twice and I had to add small amount of coolant. He decided to check, and then told me I need a new radiator and hoses $1100 (after discount) They replaced the radiator, but then I got a call that the electric fan that is attached behind the radiator, has a broken outer ring that holds the blades together; and this requires changing the fan ($1400) Gary the service adviser stated that the fan is very dangerous and makes the engine noisy and vibrates badly. I told him let me look at this as neither my wife or I ever heard any such noise when we delivered the car to them!! Most importantly, when they did the check on the car, which includes cooling system, fans etc. they never mentioned any vibration when the car was given to them 3 days earlier. I contested that they must have broken the fan ring while pulling the radiator out, he stated that "WITH BMWS IF YOU CLOSE THE HOOD, THAT CAN BREAK THAT FAN RING", Thatís when I realized it was a waste of my time to continue arguing with him and wanted to talk with a supervisor, but there was non, general manager, out of town, owner, I was told is a Japanese company. I thought this is a fraud, but I needed the car, so I paid the bill and took my car never to return to this place again. To be honest, I wanted all these innocent owners of BMWs to at least be aware of the fraud this company is conducting upon their customers .

Wow....ordered my E46 at Weatherford back in 2000, and after a bad service experience, I never went back. Ironically, I'm pretty sure the advisor's name was Gary! I found him cocky, condensending, and completely unhelpful. I have gone to BMWSF for any warranted service since then, and I absolutely avoid the dealer for repairs outside of warranty. Do yourself a favor, and find a good Indy shop. I use Phaedrus in the city, but there are many good ones recommended on this board.

+1 on the good indy in the Bay Area. There are a plethora of them in the South Bay, including Dinan -- along with many other BMW specialist shops. As far as dealers go I was very satisfied with the service from Stevens Creek BMW (Scott Fuller) when I was under warranty and afterwards.
