New X3 owner, very happy so far.

Just picked up the wifes new to us X3 yesterday. Its 2008 white/black with every option but 19 inch wheels. Was a hard search to find one in this color combination & options but well worth it. Currently at tick over 50K for miles. Had my friend who is BMW tech look at it before buying & gave it thumbs up. Good service history also helps. Plan on few upgrades within next few weeks.

-tint front windows to 30%
-install Osram CBI xenon bulbs
-replace cabin filter
-get full detail from local guy that is top notch, he did excellent job on my jet black E39.
-look for some style "191" 19's.

You may want to rethink the 19's! They might look good to some folks but the cost for tires will be higher and the ride (already problematic to many) will be harsher. Just a thought. Other than that, you can look forward to a very nice ride, but keep some coin in the bank for those unexpected repairs that start coming due after you pass 50K miles. My '06 was virtually bulletproof up to 60K then it all started to unravel.
Good luck!

Yeah if I can find some 19's at good price then maybe. Unfortunate that tire selection is very limited. Don't worry about repairs as I have owned many high mile BMW's & know all to well about needed/unexspected repairs . I work on cars for living & work for a dealership network that includes BMW so parts are at cost for me.

Congrats on the X3. I got mine in March, and I haven't been so happy with a car since my old Corvette.

Good call. They are just Hondas with a bit more soundproofing. It's not like the difference between a Toyota and a Lexus or Nissan and Infiniti.

Congrats! very nice.
I am still very happy with mine, best car I have had in a long time.
The 19's aren't that bad on the ride in my opinion, although the used ones I put on are a little noisy at lower speeds I am loving the turns

Well the honeymoon didnt last long as first problem has shown up.. Wife started X3 up this AM & got the dreaded N52 lifter tick. Glad I decided buy warranty. I work for BMW dealer so I am hoping get the new cylinder head installed instead of installing the updated lifters first that never seem to fix the issue.

At least it's a known problem with a known solution, and you're covered for the cost!

I couldn't agree more. Honda makes some excellent cars. And they know quite a bit about engines too:

http://hpd.honda.com/about/

Quote:
HPD entered the Indy Racing League's IndyCar® Series in 2003, and in 2006, Honda became the single engine supplier to the series. The company continued the role through 2011. For six consecutive seasons, Honda powered the entire 33-car starting field at the Indianapolis 500®. And for six years in a row – the only six times in Indy 500 history – not a single driver dropped out of the event with an engine-related problem. Throughout Honda’s six years as the single engine supplier to the series, a total of 98 different drivers completed 1,188,376 miles of practice, qualifying and racing, with only six race-day engine failures. No race-day failures were reported for the entire 2008, 2010 and 2011 race seasons. A testament to the durability found in Honda's products.
