E64 with LED Interior Lighting by Ziza

The six series as beautiful as it is lacks in one department; interior lighting. Recently we had the privilege of testing out a new interior LED lighting kit from Ziza in an E64. Our photographers had fun with the car, the only light is from the LEDs, they did a great job capturing the brightness as well as the color of them as well.

I have the intro pricing locked in for a while and the lights tagged with free shipping. My forum guys are getting the first heads up on these lights, vs the rest of the world has to wait a little while

Great about to order them. I just need to add the 2 rear license plate lights as well. I broke both of them yesterday. I can't seem to find them on your site. Do you have these?

I have replacement LED housings from RD avaible HERE. Or we have the genuine BMW housing available HERE.

You can retrofit the 2012 BMW 650 Led License Plate Lights on a 2004 to 2010 with NO error codes. It did it 2 weeks ago by following Wolfsden excellent DIY.

I took newer pictures on how to do the retro fit, it takes less then 5 min. I haven't have time to
Post them yet. The 2 OEM BMW License cost me $29 for both with shipping from the Thebmwpartstore.com. Local dealers in the Chicagoland area wanted around $40 for the pair.
I also took pictures of the 8 interior bulbs and how to replace them with LEDs. I did my whole interior for
about $18. Later on this week I will post a DIY for
the interior bulbs and the 2012 retro fit on the led license plate bulbs.

Looks nice I have to say but for me I don't think I would out fit the interior lights. My reason is the fact that I have the optional ambient lighting package with the orange glow LEDs so the orange glow you would get from the foot well and map lights compliments the warmness that I think BMW was trying to acheive. I think the white lighting makes it a bit "cold" looking? To each is own but I have to say that I am gald to see more options being offered for our cars. Who ever install this first, provide your honest feedback.

Received the Ziza interior lighting kit and installed all the LED's in about 15 minutes - very easy. Will give a good review tonight after I see it in the dark but definitely brighter - my teenage son got in the passenger side this morning and said what's up with the light in the footwell...? He'd never noticed the stock light before in two years...

Got mine a couple days ago, just haven't had a chance to put them in. Looking forward to it though. Also ordered the license plate lights that "msa9167" is referring to in his post here.

The dome light unit comes out as one full unit (all three lights). Wedge a thin standard screwdriver at the back/rear of the unit (between the black unit and the grey plastic headliner/roof support) (see first pic below). Then work both left and right sides of the unit with the screwdriver to lever out the back half, then the front half will slide out. The back of the unit is held with pressure by metal strips, not hooks (see second pic). Check out the pics.
The rest of the interior lights come out with the screwdriver wedge at the end (most of them) or the side. PM me if you run into any issues.

Here are a couple of better Picture's of the plastic tab with need to be filed down. Should have my DIY up by tues night.

I also have the ambient lighting package, here are 2 picture's showing the ambient light LED in the dome light. I have no problems with the ambient lighting and LEDS. If your brave enough you can change the colors of the BMW ambient lighting. There are a couple of DIY's showing how to unsolder the bmw red ambient LED and changing them to what ever color you want. Also in those DIY's you can change the color of the interior switches & indicator gauges.

I installed all the lights I got from ECS Tuning last night. Not sure how I feel about the look. The lights are nice, but not sure they match with the red color of my interior. If my interior was a different color, it might look better. I don't know. Maybe I was just used to the old lights. Might just take a little getting used to the new ones.

Hey msa9167, please do post the DIY whenever you get a chance. I'm going to use that when I do my license plate lights.

Wasn't ambient lighting standard on all 6 Series?

Well, checked out and used the lighting kit in the dark the last couple of nights, and overall I like the look. Although it is a little bit different and gives off a slightly "colder" color tone, I don't believe it clashes with the rest of the ambient dash/running board lighting. The key difference IMO is that it is clearly more functional given that it is a little brighter and more useful. Also, I much prefer the look of the white LED lights over the weak yellow/amber. But to be honest, I also changed out my angel eyes, my fog bulbs and deleted the corner parking lights, so I get a little more worked up over lighting then the average guy.
All in all, not the best mod ever but still a very good one.

Thanks gregb for the review. I think Im sticking with my original ambient lighting. I too believe that the white light might look better in some cars depending on the interior color. Since I have the saddle brown interior, the OEM lighting blends everything in. I'm afraid the white light might not make the brown look too "warm". But. it's not a bad upgrade especially since it's simple plug and play and if you get tired of it, it's a simple switch back to the original.

Maybe later models. My 2007 does not have it.

Here's a link to do the retrofit. It's for the e34/39 series, but the person who does might do it for the 6 series. Also $40 isn't a bad price.
