iPhone adapter -- Is it worth it?

I recently got a 2012 Z4 35i and have been looking at the iPhone Adapter but can't seem to find details on the additional capabilities, on top of the standard white iPhone cable, it would provide.

Is anyone using it with BMW Apps? What additional capabilities does it provide? Can you use it with an iPhone 4S with a case on it? Is it worth the $250/-?

When you use the adapter you can use the cars aerial for improved reception, plus charging in the cradle, having had adapters for other models I do not believe it is worth the $250 to basically park your phone.......

I agree. Had one in my 335i vert but did not order my Z4 with one. If you change phones you have to get a new adapter. Not worth it and I did not notice a marked improvement in reception using the adapter cradle.

I looked at the prices for the BMW cable and dedcided to stick with the apple cable as well. Works just as good. On a side note, I really like using the USB port with a memory stick to play music. I have the iphone cable in case I need it, but typically have the memory stick in and use the iphone for calls via BT.

I just use a memory stick or my Sansa mp3 players in the USB port for music. I phone 4S through the BT also. All i need. Although at times the music is turned down when I just want to
hear my exhaust, in sport or sport plus of course.

I guess what I should have said is its NOT worth it imo.

I just use the Apple USB cable to a IPod that's permanently in the Z and BT my IPhone. Cant see any value in the BMW cable, as I get great BT reception, IPod is quick to connect with album covers as well. Save your cash for some more music on ITunes
