Moving from a 3 to a Z
Well, I have been here on Bimmerfest for a little over 4 years now but I have been hanging out in the 3 series forum most of the time since I had a 328xi, but I just purchased a new to me Z4 yesterday so I have come over here to pick up on all the knowledge you guys can give. Here is a little about my car. CPO 2009 BMW Z4 with less than 10K (It has been the garage queen of and elderly gentlemen who rarely drove it), red on black with aluminum trim, Sport and Cold weather Package, Comfort Access, 6 speed manual.

Congrats. I bought a 2009 CPO in June. I love mine. I am switching to the new 3rd gen RFT RE9060AS RFTs to have an all season for our quickly changing Colorado weather. It has been awesome so far this summer. Even the mornings driving to work are great with the top down.
When I was looking found very few here in Colorado. They were priced high and I had to go to Texas to get mine. I had the previous generation Z4 (2003) and there are a lot more of those around the Denver area. In fact, I don't recall seeing another E89 Z4 around town except for the one I looked at

Wow! We have so much in common. I purchased my first Z4 in Colorado Springs in 2003 - had a full Stage two Dian package but sold it when my wife came down with cancer. I bought our 2009 Z4 from a dealer in CA because I couldn't get a CPO that I wanted in the Tucson area. Had to settle on Black but I do not regret it. It is sharp when clean. Mine has 25,000 miles and has 18" wheels with Michelins Sports.

iamthewalrus: I am already enjoying the summer here in a way that I haven't enjoyed it in the past. I thought that I wouldn't be that interested in the top down driving, but going out early in the day when it is in the 60's with the top down is just immense fun so far.
gvmohan: I would definitely suggest doing a search around the entire U.S. to find what you are looking for because prices certainly are different from one location to the next. I was pretty lucky in that I found two cars that fit my needs right here in CO. There was one up in the Denver area for around 43K and I found mine right here in Colorado Springs with under 10K miles for around 37K. carsbillz4: I do not envy you or anybody else that has a black car because as you said it is beautiful when it is clean but so hard to keep it that way. I was looking specifically looking for a red on black so I really didn't even consider anything else this time out. Romer: Mine is running the Bridgestone Potenza tires in 18's. I believe they are what comes with the car when you order it with the Sport package.

Glad to see you have joined the Z side :-)
The new machine looks good. I swapped from a 323ci 5 years ago to my first Z4 after a test drive from Franfurt to Munich........you gotta do it. Now on my second Z4 and not looking back. Enjoy ! |
