Exclamation Alarm system siren doesn't go off

Hi all,

I have a 2004 X5 3.0 and about 2 days ago I noticed there was no 'chirp' when I locked/unlocked the car with the fob. Since then now my alarm system doesn't make noise when it goes off(only the lights flash)

I've tried searching and I've seen recommendations to replace a fuse for the alarm system siren, I've looked in both the glove box and trunk fuse box but all I could find was fuses for the central locking and those fuses tested good.

I'm at a stand still now, I would like to hear about any possible DIY fixes before I take it to a stealership.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The siren (which is also the alarm module) has an internal battery that may have failed, if so , the dealership or a good Indy will have to replace and code it.

I was fearing that it was the actual alarm module, do you know how much would those go for? Would I be able to order it online and install it myself, or can only the dealer do it? Thanks

Also any other reccomendations in the mean time are appreciated.

Is it pretty common for the siren to just die suddenly, it was working just fine until that day it stopped chirping.

You can buy a siren on eBay for around 75-100 and try it with no guarantees or take it to a dealer or Indy an pay them 100-150 to diag and know for sure, may also be a hood switch, door lock, key, hard to say.

Sorry this is late, would I be able to install the siren myself or would the dealer have to code the new siren to my car?

Thanks
