Microfilter Question? Please help!!
Hey guys,
i don't know much about cars and my warranty just ended in June. I have a 06 330XI. The microfilter alert thingy just came up on my navi screen. I called BMW and asked how much it would cost, they said $130. I'm sure it would be cheaper to do it on my own but then I don't know where this part is or how to do it. Can someone tell me how to do it? what I need to buy? maybe link me to a site on how to do this??

You can buy the part online at any number of places (Amazon, BavAuto.com, etc.) for around $30 or so. Look for gaps around the edge once you get it seated.

Just to add this, it doesn't exactly "drop-in", it takes a bit of squeezing here and there to get it fully seated. Just make sure that it's completely seated and looks nice and square before you bolt everything down. It's a 10 minute job, maybe 15 the first time if you really take your time.
I used the Mann filter that Zooks linked to. It's cheaper than the BMW OEM filter and also uses activated charcoal, the BMW one doesn't.

you can find the filters for $45 or so on eBay -new. Check it out.
