Black carbon 35i with oyster leather. Packages: premium, technology, M sport, dynamic handling, cold I, BMW apps. Locke, if you are ordering, you are getting a 2013 not 2012. I saw you had 2012 on your signature block. Grantsi, there are a couple of reviews on the dynamic handling. You may want check them out and add. With the more sporty power of the 35i you may well want the sport suspension. All personal preference of course, but after reading I couldn't resist the lure.

My production number is also 3957xxx, and a quite low xxx I might add. The website just showed my X3 28 just moved into production. We are scheduled for PCD on 8/16, 3 weeks from today.

Marathon Man, did your dealer ever tell you your production week?

No, we were never told a production week. We got very little info from our CA and had to push pretty hard to get signed up for PCD. A week after the order was placed we were given a delivery date at PCD. I checked that Jonathan (I-Won-Today) on here to make sure our CA had confirmed the delivery date. I've been checking the website and occasionally calling, and finally today there was a change in status on the website. In another post Jonathan said the earliest PCD is 2 weeks after production is complete, so I figured ours would have to start production soon in order to finish by 1 week from today.

I have been torn about Dynamic Handling...I started with Sport Activity Package w/ DHP, then moved to M-Sport with Premium Sound. I had a budget and the final $1200 was killing me ( and still is ). The Premium / Tech / Cold packages were all necessities, unfortuantely DHP was sacrificed. Now you had got me worried again...without DHP - how much "less sporty" will this be?

Do you think I am able to modify at this late stage?

A lot of people have also said that DHP is great for sports cars...but for an X3 that will pretty much be a grocery getting / baby shuttling / weekend trip type car, do I need something so advanced? Will "sport" mode make this car even slighly sporty?

...and yes...i realize I just started the DHP/no-DHP debate with myself on a thread dedicated to arrival times. I apologize and will stop that immediately.

Mein Auto: x3
Just to update after having my production number error out on the bmw website for the past 2+ weeks, I gave it one more shot this morning before calling the dealer and actually had success. My x3 has entered production with an estimated completion date of august 4th.
Does anybody know what that august 4th date means? Is that the day it should be at the dealer? or the day it rolls off the line in South Carolina? I live in the NYC area and I'm hoping to pick the car up August 11th.

Also, where do you find the status code, i don't see it on the website, and didn't hear it on the phone call, but maybe i hung up too soon.

Gaaah, damn dealership apparently thought some other carbon black X3 was mine -- my husband went to pick it up Saturday and they figured it out... Now the web page says at dealer, but they haven't called yet -- guess I will be on the phone shortly to see what is going on. Talk about crushed expectations!

What was your stated build week? Was this on schedule or are they ahead of time?

Is seems we are in sync: Ours finished production yesterday and is released to the carrier. Let's hope it will get to the West Coast in less than 2 weeks so we can pick it up on 8/17!

Do you mind sharing what build week you were? At this point, we are technically at the tail end of week 29...are they "on schedule" or working a little ahead? You get where I'm going with this...build week 33 ( that's me ) is 2 away...I am curious as to whether I can expect to see progress ahead of target. Thanks

I was never told a build week so I don't know. My main focus on scheduling was the PCD date and only tracked the production out of eagerness rather than it determining when I would get delivery.

Actually we are currently in wk 31. I was originally given a wk 33 build date but it got magically pulled in to wk 31 and production started last Friday (which was still wk30).

You are absolutely correct...we are at the tail end of 31.

Week Of: End Date: Start Date:

Week 31 08/04/2012 07/29/2012
Week 32 08/11/2012 08/05/2012
Week 33 08/18/2012 08/12/2012
Week 34 08/25/2012 08/19/2012

I hope for my sake ( and that of daisy ) that we get pulled forwards a day or 7.

Enjoy it when you get it.

One week before we start "week 33"...the 800 number still tells me "no confirmed production date" and the website is still stuck on square 1. I know they say good things come to those who wait, but, I also know the "good thing" in this case could have been picked up from a dealers lot in California 5 weeks ago. At the time, the a cross country drive and the expense that accompanied it didn't seem worth it...now however, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Grantsi, my dealer emailed me today to say that my vehicle went into production. The 800 number and website don't show that yet, but just thought I'd let you know.

Email or call your CA. They can always pinpoint where your car is in the process more so than the BMW NA web site or phone number. They're sort of used to this kind of thing.
