JD Powers Overkill... PICS
First, JD Powers sent an online survey for our new AH7L. Done.
Then, a second online survey -- more details, plenty of redundancy.
Today I received a third "kit" in the mail requesting the same info, plus plenty more market/demo fishing, media preferences, income, etc. Plus a crisp ten dollar bill (didn't it used to be a dollar?) I guess that's for the OMR only tool they want filled out like an SAT exam. Too much. Three strikes. Ask your team to read these forums to collect info you sell to automakers.
For the record, the main "dislike" I indicated in first forms were the cheap/plasticky/creaky/noisy front seat cup-holders. I don't think the multipurpose insert is the best engineering choice for American market. This is minor. We've had zero issues with this BMW in its 4K miles and just over 3 mos. of mixed driving. (Same as my last '11 550 I kept for 15 mos.)
I love the power; the electric motor is sort of like having an aftermarket tuned-kit. The eight-speed transmission is a bonus over the regular 750s, the size is useful compared to the 5-series, I got the useful camera tech pkg, Head Up Display is very smart and adds safety/confidence, and the MPG is about 20% better overall than the 550.
We especially love the hybrid's ability to run the AC with the engine off (and cool down the car with AC by setting the timer ahead of time, or with a click of the key fob). The side windows are also dual paned -- not like the S-classes of the '90s, but more like a laminated design. (I included a pic). I'm not sure if this is for better insulation against noise/temp. but the car is very quiet.
Best of all was the cost. I know there are still new '12 AH7s, and if you're aggressive you can pick one up heavily discounted as many here know.
Oh, and I loved getting the thumbs up from a very pretty 30-something cyclist in Santa Monica last Sunday when she saw its prominent "hybrid" logo. Great car -- thx again BMW.
