One year maintenance 2011 M3?

According to the service interval message, the next service is due at 16,000 or 6/2013. The car was last serviced at 1,200 miles in 6/2011. My previous 2008 Z4 required service at one year if the mileage was not reached. Is BMW now backing off of the one year maintenance interval requirement, and stretching it out to 2 years ?

You can request service 1 year from the date of the 1200 mile service or wait for the car to make the call for you.............Phil

BMW will do a low mileage annual oil service if the car has accummulated less than 6,000 miles and 12 months have past since the last change. It used to be 12 months and 1 day but I think they my have relaxed it. No other services including those that would be part of a regular CBS service are included.

Thanks for the info. I'll wait until it tells me @ 16,000 miles. It's a leased car, so I don't need to baby it beyond what's required.
