@axle, did you know all pistons are made of aluminum whether they be forged or cast? Its the additives (like silicon for one) and other features thet distinguish a performance piston from a passenger car piston. I was surprized in the Mahle link that described diesel engine pistons are cast not forged. Most performance pistons for gasoline are FORGED. I would bet our crankshafts are atleast forged.

I am not to keen in internal parts so you got me on this, all I am trying to get to is that Lenny had told me if I ever wanted more then I should go the MAHLE route since our pistons CANNOT tolerate endurance type racing, but I beleive that since I live in a congested ISLAND of traffic this might be an alternative in the future for my car, he did tell me that the crankshaft need no replacement its the pistons the achilles tendon.
