I am just wondering about the phone in the center console, is it completely dead now? Like, can we do anything with it, or is it just for looks?

You may still be able to dial 911. The USA has gone to digital mobile phone service...so analog mobile phones are pretty much extinct except for a few exceptions (very few).

Yes there is nothing that can be done with the phone as Qsilver has stated, the analog networks have been shut down for the most part. So the phone is pretty much useless.

However, I have been wanting to see if there is some kind of bluetooth adapter that would be some how retrofitted to the phone. So i could use it with my galaxy s2 phone. Its the nostalgia part of it that Im more interested in...

So far i have been fruitless in my efforts...

I modified the cradle and wired in a charger for my iphone.

It would be nice if we can modify that wire to connect an Android/iPhone to the whole phone system in the car. Have anyone been able to do that?

Hardest thing with all the phones/i-pod/and similar is finding out what each pin does. You need a scope and really good mate who knows his stuff or a gold mine in the garden and a need to make it all work. Once the pin-outs are solved the rest is down hill.............

Guess the pin-outs diagram should be available somewhere or a technical guy at BMW dealership might know???

jhstealth: How did you wire the iPhone charger to that? You at least know which pins provide power right?
