Trunk -- How to avoid scratching paint when loading

I have a 2013 BMW 328i F30 AWD. I am concerned that I might scratch the paint when putting a large item (such as a bike) in the trunk of my car. Does anyone know if anyone knows if a company sells some type of protector (whether a mat or blanket or some type of canvas) that you can lay over the part of the trunk edge (right above the bumper – not sure what that is called) to prevent scratching?

Thanks!

why not just use an old blanket or clean beach towel?

I think they have transparent films that you can use in this area as well as the front and rear bumpers. I don't know how good it is. It's kind of like those iphone protectors.

Thanks. I thought about using a blanket or beach towel but they often slip esp if, when you are loading, the object catches on them. I saw the transparent films but was hope to some type of mat that hooks on one of the hooks in the trunk.

Well I have seen the mat thing before, it's just a rubber mat that is longer than the trunk so it sticks out on the bumper even after you close the trunk. I mostly see that on soccer mom SUVs. Not sure you want to mess up your looks with some ugly accessory like this... It's the same deal as the car bras... lol

BMW makes an anchored mat for the trunk. It folds inside the trunk and works as a cover when not unfurled over the rear bumper.

BMW's website doesn't list it under F30s, but it should work. Check with your dealer.

Looks good Sorus, how do you protect the bumper while loading and at the same time protect your trunk floor? From the pic it looks like it can only do either one of these but not both at the same time.

You are right, this mat can only protect the bumper or the trunk interior at the same time. BMW makes carpeted and rubber mats that protect the interior of the trunk as well, so you can use both.

I keep a towel in my trunk because of this and for changing (for surfing). Towel all the way.
