Oil change

I just did my 1st oil change last week. And i was wondering how often do i have to make an oil change on a X5

I change mine every 4 to 5k to keep it clean running machine. Yes I agree bmw made up standards are not practicle. I would definately change once it turns darker or black.

I use redline oil and change it every 10K, it is very good oil and stays the same color even after you change it. Redline oil says that you can run it for 15k miles but I still change it at 10K.
