E60 Performance

Alright everyone, need some help.

Bought the wife a 2006 530xi. Great car, pretty well loaded. I like driving it, and so does my wife, but I get that it isn't an M5 or a 550.

What I want to know is are there places to get mild performance parts like cold air intake, exhaust, etc. Been to the Dinan website, and they have things for the 530i (and it is the same motor of course), but their selection is limited to say the least. I can buy a larger throttle body (no help really without cold air kit/K&N Air filter), or some brakes and floor mats.

Does anyone know of someone else that does BMW parts for this motor? I don't want to blueprint to motor, or add a supercharger kit; All I really want is for it to breathe a little better on both ends, which would give me a touch more HP and not have to spend a mint to get it.

I would hate to just be able to only put a K&N Air filter on it and be done because it seems like I could get maybe 20 more horsepower and a couple more mpg's out of it while helping it run cooler and more efficiently in the process.

Any thoughts?

You may want to check to 3 series forums. Your engine is roughly the same as the 3 and I believe more 3 series owners tune and tweak their cars that 5 series owners. That being said I'm not too sure if there are many high horse power, low cost upgrades for your car since it's naturally aspirated. You may just want to get a K&N and call it a day. Enjoy the car for a while and if you want more power, upgrade to a 535xi. I think that engine has about 70+ more hp stock than yours, and it's very easily upgradable.

Good luck

+1, you would probably have spent some money by the time you have gotten 20 hp out of the engine.

+1. Naturally aspirated BMW engines are really not economically tunable.
