Engine sound HELP!!

Hello guys,

I hope everyone is doing fine. Since few month I own a BMW X6 3.5i 2008
Very nice car and drives like an angel. but since few weeks I noticed a strange sound from the engine.
When I open the hood, the engine sounds like a diesel engine. Takatakatak..

Now my question is whether it's normal that this sound is coming out of the engine or not?

I made a video of the engine. Here you can hear clearly the (diesel) sound.

I hope someone here can tell me something about this issue.

Is you car still under the manufacturer's warrenty? It seems like a good idea to take it to the dealer to get it checked out.

Sounds like a possible injector replacement, had the same issue on my old 2010 a couple of times! Same sounds, does it reset when you turn it off then return intermittently?

Unfortunately I do not have any warrenty Anymore.

I have checked what you said. But the sound remains when I return it on intermittently.



Can It be because of the wrong engine oil or the gasoline quality?

I checked the last oil service and they put in 5w30 CASTROL which is approved by BMW.

And as last. could this sound not be normal because when I close the hood. I cannot hear the sound.

Anyone?
