Fix for power window anti trap error
This is for an 07 650i coupe. I was detailing my car yesterday and while I was in the process I noticed the driver's side window did not go down and reseal when opening and closing the door. When I started the car afterwards there was an ominous error message reading something like "window anti trap failure". I can't recall the exact message, but it sounded bad. The auto up and down would no longer work and the warning triangle was on. I went through the iDrive menus and saw the error but there was no way to reset with the iDrive that I found.
I went online and searched for a solution. I didn't find anything on this forum (sorry if this is known issue / fix), but another M5 forum suggested rolling window down and holding for 5 seconds, then roll back up and hold for 5 seconds. I started the car, rolled the window down and held it. A door like icon showed up on the dash display along with a ding sound or two then it all went away. Presto, problem fxed! ![]() This may have fixed itself down the line, but I did not have to crack open the manual or take a trip to the dealer so I figured I would share.
